Autumn Fay - Tinted and fixed

Posted Dec 12, 2005, 7:55:24 AM UTC
YAY!  Arkillian gave me  the correct solution..  I should have known all along.  I was just doing things in the wrong order, is all.

Anyhow, this is pretty close to what the original looks like.  Thanks to all for your suggestions and help!  I'm leaving the old one up for comparison (at least for a little while).

Thank you! Sometimes my pencil just takes off with those little hidden details all over the place.

it is nice to see non-yaoi artworks from you, too.
    i adore your skills.

Laughing Most of my work is non-yaoi, actually. I think I only have about three nude men, and I wouldn't even consider them yaoi.

Glad you like my stuff, though! Smile Thanks for the kind words.

Good lord..this is incredible! I like the detail and the shading on this, it is amazing! Keep it up!

I'd say your one of the best artists here on PD..^_^

Embarrassed Thanks so much for the compliments!

I think, personally, that PD is chalk-full of talented people - most of which have yet to find their niche in art. It takes so long to get to a point where one is comfortable with what they do. I still have to vary my style from time to time just to keep from pulling out all my hair.

The commission I'm currently working on in giving me no end of troubles - but I think that's just because I've been drawn-out, so to speak. Laughing

Thanks again for the lovely compliments!

Hey no problem ^_^;;..you deserve those compliments!

And good luck on the commission! Be sure to post it when you are done..Smile

The next stage will be going up today, methinks. I like to post the 'works in progress'.

Wow. I really like this drawing. I haven't seen the original, but I really do like this one. *sighs* I wish I could draw like that. Sorry

Smile Only one person on this site has seen the original (EvilBunnySlippers - it was made for her). The fixed-up scan is, in my opinion, a step or two different from the original piece. The work didn't scan well, though. Besides, I actually really like this version - perhaps even more than the original. Embarrassed

Wow. Great drawing. One of the best I have seen in me short time here. Great attention to detail and shading. Very impressive work!

Thank you very much for your kind comment! I tend to strive for the proper amount of detail in my commissions. This piece was made for the winner of a contest I threw. Smile

Wow, this is great work, you are very talented. I especiallly adore her branchy wings, and the wee faeries flying about her.
    • Feb 10, 2006, 7:32:32 PM UTC
Thanks so much! Embarrassed This was one of those spur-of-the-moment ideas. I haven't seen many branch-winged fay, so I thought it might be fun to try.

Thanks again for the comment! Your own works are quite spectacular. Smile

I think it really looks great Robin! Big Smile
I'm sorry I haven't reviewed earlier. She's got a really sweet face. I think maybe the eyes should have more sparkle to them, cuz right now they look a bit like knobs. But nevertheless it's a marvellous piece of art. Kinda reminds an old photo. You know, I think it's not so bad if the picture had a little more yellows, it would actually gain by it. Maybe you could do a little colorizing. But if you don't want to that's ok too cuz you're the artist. Anywhoo great work my dear!SmileWorship It more than deserves Favorite Keep up the great work.

I agree about the eyes. unfortunately, the pencil crayon I used to colour them was darker than I expected - Can't really fix that without losing a lot of shading on the face. I mean, I could fix it on the computer, but there isn't really much point to that - I want the scan to be true to the original rather than doctored up. I'm weird that way, I guess. As for more yellow... Well, It might be nice, but I really and truly don't want to put any more colour onto it. I'm getting to the point where if I touch it much more I might rip it up, and then I might make EvilBunnySlippers sad. THough yes - more yellow WOULD give it more of an old-photo look, I agree. It's just... gah. It's tough to tint properly with cheap pencilcrayons, I guess. I'm a wimp... Embarrassed

Thanks so much for your review. I promise I'll keep all those tipe in mind next time I do a tinted drawing like this. It's all a learning experience, after all.

      Sweet dreams, luv!

I understand you want to keep it looking as close as possible to the original. I mean it's no big deal to fix it on the puter. I t would be weird if I fixed up an oil painting in Photoshop. lol. So here's my tip for you in such cases. I usually take a knife and cut my rubber so it will have a sharp end. That way you won't get anything unnecessary erased. You could try that next time. Yes, blarg, those cheap crayons, I had the exact same thing with my Shippo pic. Anyhow I love your work, just keep it up. And you're very welcome.Smile

O.O Cut my rubber? My beautiful eraser baby? Ok. Tip taken and filed for future reference.

I went against my own wishes anyhow and re-did the whole thing for my home-made calendar for my dad's Christmas pressie. Her eyes look WAY better in the one. I think I'll have to send a print with EBS's original...

OoooOh! I'm being worshipped! That's good to know once in a while. Wink Especially welcome during this season. I'm very excited for Christmas and extremely stressed all at the same time.

Thank you so much for your bows and comments and all the good warm fuzzy things!

Robin it looks simply breath-taking! And yes you can immediately see the difference. Especially on the ground in front of her where all of those bright yell0w splotches were. Yes, the tinting is much more subtle now. You can see the difference in color just from here to the thumbnail of the old one. Absolutely gorgeous hun. All my love to you. Mwah!
    • Dec 14, 2005, 12:42:40 AM UTC
Yes, I hated those splotches too. They really got on my nerves, to be quite honest. I hate it when scanners pick up things like that that are barely noticeable in the original. I'm so glad you can see the difference, too. I thought it was fairly substantial, myself... But then again, I have the original in front of me (at least for a little while...)

I should be able to make some satisfactory prints soon. I've got some nice-quality paper that takes to our printer very well. That means your birthday pressie should be on its way after Christmas (just as everything else should be... hehehe)

      Mucho loves!

Well you have every reason to be proud of this one sweetheart. This one is one of your best. This and your fortune teller and the one you did for my birthday present are my absolute favorites. I can't wait to get the print. I am so excited for it. I can't wait to hang it on my wall for everyone to see. Smile Yay! *giggles* I miss you my darling. You make sure to take a break once in a while from all of your projects so you don't go crazy, okay? All my love right back to you. Mwah mwah mwah!

Embarrassed Thank you so very much! What compliments! I think I'll have to leave this one alone now, lest I overwork it or (heaven forbid!) get tired of it. It's been a long time in the making, and I'm glad to be finaly finished with ALL aspects. *grin*
