Huevember 1 - Cyrus lantern

Posted Nov 6, 2019, 4:01:55 AM UTC

Huevember day 1 (yellow).

I posted a pencil version of this earlier and thought I had botched the colored version. I used watercolor and gouache on paper that isn't made for this type of media so the paper really buckled. The face didn't come out as well as I wanted. Oh well.

    That's very amazingly cool.
How can you draw as pretty as this?

Nice use of yellow against the otherwise cool and neutral colors! Smile I also really like the design of his vest and cloak. I love nifty clothes.

The wrinkling paper might not have been what you wanted, but it does give a texture to the image that I think suites it.

I like the Victorian details on the vest and the chiaroscuro feel overall is quite lovely. Even if it wasn't the right paper for the media, the piece has a really nice atmosphere to it and it shines. Well done!

Despite the paper fighting you, I still like the outcome. It has an interesting feel to it.
