Whoa. That is very unnerving. It took me a while to figure out the picture...and then I was kinda shocked. I was looking at the shine of the (woman's?) face, and wondering why the picture was doubled when it hit me. It's shocking, which was probably your goal eh?
That shine I mentioned is distracting tho'. It's brighter than the whole rest of the picture.

Shine? There is no "shine" in this. There is two tone shadow but no "shine" I'm not sure what you mean here. The tones on the man and the woman are the same shade so unless your monitor is LCD like mine you shouldn't notice a difference. I notice on my LCD monitor items at the top of the screen seem "brighter" than the lower half and that's just due to the angle at which you're viewing the LCD crystals. Both are 15% grayscale so the woman is not brighter than the man.

It's all in grayscale since this book is in print and you can't print color. Printed at high resolution the colors are the same. ^_^

Second, it shouldn't be "Unnerving" that was not the intention of the piece. Eye-opening yes, unnerving it shouldn't be.

It's a demonstration of the chapter in John's Book where he talks about How, based in Islamic/Judeo Christian/Muslim religions love is a glorious wonderful thing if the body parts are different and then supposedly "becomes evil" if the body parts match... even though the base emotion is the same.

John requested this picture to make a point in his novel. He wanted it illusional like this.

He's a brilliant man and gives talks all over the country, CNN, Fox News, Anderson Cooper's 360 program etc...

His novel is very enlightening and his studies very thought provoking. If you read Chapter 12 of his book, which this picture illustrates, you'll see what the picture is all about.

      ^_^
