Gothica

A sketch for a watercolour painting that went overboard and turned into a full-blown graphite drawing. I was playing with borders again.

Somehow I managed to miss this awesome artwork.*sweatdrop* But I saw this in the other gallery I told you about, and it really caught my eye, so now I found it here too. I really love her face and the way you circled her with her hair, especially the braid.Heart Your attention to details is wonderful as usual. I must add this to my favourites.Big Smile

*grin* Ah, this is quite an old one, luv. I'm glad you like it! I'm still rather fond of it myself, although I know all the glaring mistakes. Wink They're always there to remind me next time to work harder.

Much love, Atlantis. Talk to ya later! Hug

When I look at my older pics I see how many mistakes I did and can't believe I thought that was good. Laughing Your older work is way better than mine.Smile

Well, my way older work is exactly the same for me - I keep a little folder to se how much I've developed in art since I was 11 tears old... It's pretty fun to look at, actually.

Jeez! I though I had commented on this one already!
This is a new one for my eyes anyway. It is very eye catching, I love how you always come up with some of the most creative and lovely borders.
Her hair and eyes are stunning and this is just a treat for the eyes.
    Wonderful work again Robin!

*grin* I thought you just hadn't noticed it, actually. This was one of my very first border experiments, so I wasn't sure what the outcome would be. According to the comments I've gotten, though, it worked out just fine. Embarrassed I'm glad you liked it, Lloyd.

Wow, she looks so pretty!! The braid around her looks so nice. Very nice job on the shading.

Thank you kindly. I'm in the process of making something similar to this, only with more detail at the moment. *sigh* Ah, illustrationist's work. I love it. Embarrassed

very beautiful picture! I love the way you made her hair and the color is really great!

The hair is, quite honestly, just a lot of tapering lines... I never use an eraser for highlights if I can help it. Big Smile Thanks!

You are welcome Minimaid! I still think that her hair is beautiful, it looks so realistic.

Wow! This is so dramatic and rich. She almost looks kind of Native American, in some ethereal way. Beautiful!
    • Jun 8, 2005, 11:36:27 PM UTC
I think it was the beads and facial tatoos that gave the Native American essence... I noticed it too, when I was drawing the piece. Thanks so much for your compliments, they mean a lot to me. Smile

I like the borders that you do. Combined with the pieces that you draw, it gives them a certain majesty I guess I want to say. I love the bead work on her dress and you can really see the style of the dress in the way that the faric overlaps and pleats. I find that the hardest to do in artwork. I don't know why. But you have done such a beautiful job. I think the black background compliments the graphite so perfectly. Excellent work.

Wacko Thank you so much! *grin* The background, the black one, is actually graphite. That's how dark I can get a 4B pencil when I push hard enough. Tongue

    Rreat image there, again! Wacko

Is it just me or am i starting to fall in love with your pictures? That i know, that i have fallen in love with Bogusred's artwork Hawaiian Coral Reef... Embarrassed
    • Jun 7, 2005, 11:22:02 PM UTC
*grin* I would certainly not mind you falling in love with my pictures! lol. I'm in love with a lot of BogusRed's artwork, as I am with Dennis's. But I've been in love with Dennis's work since before I started posting anything online. This one has it's flaws, though, too. Mainly due to the fact that it should have been a concept sketch instead of a final piece.. But that pencil just wouldn't stop!

Pretty common prob with me too when i'm writing poetry, but my most common prob is to run out of paper! lol
        • Jun 7, 2005, 11:37:30 PM UTC
LOL! I tend to keep two sketchbooks at any given time to avoid that mishap...
