This is one of the animals I've made up for my world, Taliar.

Valdere are antelope-like creatures which graze in herds in the southeastern plains. They are built for running, their legs long and lean, haunches powerful, joints flexible, chest broad, and a body built like a greyhound's. They run at a gallop, and can sustain their speed for a remarkable amount of time. In our world, they'd give a cheetah a real run for its money. The only way for them to be hunted is to either trap them with the help of a pack, or to sneak up to ambush range.

The females are built wider than the males, and are also lighter in color, without the forked horns that are typical in fully mature males. Their herds may number anywhere from five to forty individuals, and herds a hundred strong have been documented. A male may have any number of female mates, and will tolerate other males so long as they don't provide competition. The males' mating ritual is a sight to see (though best from above); the males will race eachother, fighting alongside at top-speed until one can circle around the other and face it down in a rapid, quick-stepping sparring match. These ruts can carry on for miles, and often leave well-matched males in a state of exhaustion.

And as a side-note, even though it looks like an antelope, it's a member of the goat family. ^___^ Taliar's got a huge variety of goats. xD Why? Because they had to import horses from here and it didn't seem fair.
