Vierlan & Fortress Lockharte

First of all, this simply started out as a doodle, but became a much bigger pain in the rear As you can see, this is why I never draw backgrounds: because they suck, I'm too lazy to spend the effort to learn how to draw/color them properly, and when I do draw them, they take forever to make look halfway decent! But since this is an original character and the setting is supposed to go with the story, I had to draw everything myself, which obviously leaves much to be desired.
Ok, now that I've gotten my disclaimer out of the way....

This is an oc from the main manga I'm working on; it's an idea I've had in my head since age seven, and even though people tell me he looks too much like Link, he's looked like this in my head before I even knew what Legend of Zelda was! (And those were dark days indeed, lol!) His name's Vierlan, and he's the male lead in the story. The castle behind him, which is really the only thing I like about the background, is fortress Lockharte, where he serves as chief bodyguard and favored knight of the king and queen. 'Tis a long and complicated story, but a pic like this needs some kind of explaination ^_^
