Happy New Year! Premium Accounts on sale for only $8/yr!
An old drawing from around March of this year. It was a history assignment to be interpreted from William Butler Yeats' "The Second Coming" poem. I thought of submitting this picture, one of many from my DA account because it's one of the fewer pieces I'm actually proud of that turned out so good. I'm proud of how far I've come so far, but this has remained a favorite. It's too bad that I didn't get the original back; it really ticked me off, but I suppose I can try to track it down. :/
Basically, we had studying in my last year's history class about the 1920's and we were in session of learning art and music of the 1920's. And the art that was the main focus? It was mostly surrealism (Salvador Dali), cubism (Pablo Picasso), and expressionism (Paul Klee).
Well, since I didn't like cubism (using plain shapes to interpret things like animals or people) or expressionism (using thick bold lines or bright colors to express an objective or feeling; similar to Japanese art, it's beautiful, but I just can't mimic it enough to do it justice) enough to do them, I decided to go the Dali way and do surrealism (expressing from dreams or the unconscious mind).
This is my Manticore creation, although in plain honesty, he looks more like a chimera. ^^; I hope to redesign him a bit more, but his name was Bob. I'm thinking of changing his name as well.
Anyway, this is my frist submission on Paper Demon. :3 Hooray for the Captain, cheer for her.
