Aaaaaaan here's my post for today! This is the Birdkeeper of Erahka, and here's her story:
In a small house nestled in the high northern mountains of Erahka there lives a creature called the Birdkeeper. No one knows exactly what she is or where she came from, but she has kept the Little House for centuries, tending to the wounded and tired birds that pass through.
Part dragon, bird, human, with perhaps a dash of dog, it is impossible to tell if she grew into what she is today, or has always been this way. In Terula, to the south, there is a legend of a girl who loved birds and would always go walking in the mountains. Walking one day she met a wounded dragon and nursed it back to health. In gratitude the dragon offered to grant her one wish, and since that day she was seen no more. But if you tell this story to the Birdkeeper she will only smile and change the subject.

This is one of my favorites. I love the little birdie! Anyway, it is watercolors, india ink, and white acrylic ink on 8"x10" textured clayboard. (Textured clayboard is this neat stuff made by Ampersand; it's basically this nubbly white clay stuff on a masonite panel. It's very sturdy, and very absorbent, making it ideal for watercolors.)
Art and story by me!
Enjoy.

FantomFireflyTotal Posts: 23Nov 9, 2007 7:30 pmI love the story behind it, and, if you don't mind me saying, the Birdkeeper reminds me a bit of Haku from Spirited Away when he's in his dragon form. ^.^ |
