Aaaaaaan here's my post for today! This is the Birdkeeper of Erahka, and here's her story:

In a small house nestled in the high northern mountains of Erahka there lives a creature called the Birdkeeper. No one knows exactly what she is or where she came from, but she has kept the Little House for centuries, tending to the wounded and tired birds that pass through.

Part dragon, bird, human, with perhaps a dash of dog, it is impossible to tell if she grew into what she is today, or has always been this way. In Terula, to the south, there is a legend of a girl who loved birds and would always go walking in the mountains. Walking one day she met a wounded dragon and nursed it back to health. In gratitude the dragon offered to grant her one wish, and since that day she was seen no more. But if you tell this story to the Birdkeeper she will only smile and change the subject.

[emoticon] This is one of my favorites. I love the little birdie! Anyway, it is watercolors, india ink, and white acrylic ink on 8"x10" textured clayboard. (Textured clayboard is this neat stuff made by Ampersand; it's basically this nubbly white clay stuff on a masonite panel. It's very sturdy, and very absorbent, making it ideal for watercolors.)

Art and story by me!

Enjoy. [emoticon]

Bravo, great work and quite an original idea [emoticon]

This could be turned into a good children's book [emoticon] , if you don't mind me saying.

Thank you so much!

I hope one day to write a story with the Birdkeeper in it... the whole problem is finding time between all my other projects!

Hee hee, I love having this problem. *giggles gultily*

I love the story behind it, and, if you don't mind me saying, the Birdkeeper reminds me a bit of Haku from Spirited Away when he's in his dragon form. ^.^

Thank you so much, I'm glad you like it!

Heh, I'm not surprised she resembles Haku (I think it must be the bird feet), for I am an insatiable Miyazaki fan! Though I did not draw her with Haku in mind...

^^;

Horray for the insatiable Miyazaki followers! I also count myself as one of them. When in doubt, draw a Totoro.

I thought she was a griffan when I first looked at it. Anyways, great work as always ^^
