Hibiya Jackson, know as Jak or Jaki to his freinds, is the AU version of a canon who's now taken on a life of his own. He is American born to a japanese couple and grew up in Manhatten, before leaving with his parents to go back "home" to Japan to go to college. Since he's bilingual, that's not an issue. About the only he now shares with his canon namesake are his sexual preference (they're both gay), and the love of life. He also takes his stage name from his canon counterpart's name. He gives a modern twist to a traditional artform, as he's an onnagata. Onnagata is an old term from Kabuki theater and it is used to refer to amn who specializes in women's roles. Jak started out as theater major in college so he has stage experience, but he also appeared in print as a model for a well known brand of make-up. He then palyed the part of the love interest (as a woman) in music vidoe and from there he did commertcials, until now(he's in his early forties, giving a life span of more than twice his namesake). As an onnagat, he cross-dresses and makes a point to be as womanly & feminine as possible, and when cross-dressing, he's often mistaken for a woman. He's also very insecure and a bit on the outrageous side. His biggest fear is having his significant other leave him for a woamn. That actually happened to him & he was devastated by it as it was his best freind's wife his loverr left him for. Besides his lifepartner Kusao Bankotsu (who shares a frist name with hsi canon counterpart), he loves chocolate cake, hydrangeas, and Hello Kitty.
This pic was sketched first, scanned in & painted over in photoshop. It's about 5 hours work of work. It was also referenced off a photo of a real onnagata, the adorable Saotome Taisho.
