He sighed forlornly, starting over the pond that his people had given his name. So many memories were stashed here in this timeless glen. One was behind that rock, a few of picnics and long talks over the jagged cliff, and a dozen of games and romance under the waterfall...gods be damned, she was everywhere. He breathed her, smelled her, felt her ethereal presence, stained in recorded laughs and pictures taken so long ago by his mind. The most vivid, torturous, and powerful memories, however, were the ones veiled behind the curtain of water in the small cave beyond. This place held not only recollections of physical lovemaking, but his true surrender. This was the altar where he had sacrificed his heart...and now it bled a substance much more vital than blood - his very will.
