This was a gift for a friend on another gallery. It was a thank you for all the help he has given me in learning how to use DAZ.
I was going for a Currier and Ives winter scene (no references used) and this is what came out. I thought about putting them on a front door step and you see them looking out through the front door with the winter scene beyond, but decided that the door may have framed it too much and made it difficult to see the singers and the background which I find visually interesting.
I think the biggest challenge in this image was the lighting. The pose was difficult to get them to hold the book right and to hug each other - but that goes with the territory of DAZ. The lighting however was a difficult. I wanted a nice contrast betwen dim moon light reflected off snow and the warm candle light, but several attemts made the light of the candles wash out the color of the faces.

Æros (Reply)Total Posts: 14Dec 28, 2007 4:25 pmthank you. My initial idea was a more modern coat and scarf, but did not find the forms I was looking for. I got to thinking about how Madrigal singers roam a shopping district near where I live, and got to thinking about Courier & Ives... The guy on the left is a bit earlier clothing style compared to the others, but hey... it's a costume... |
