Artist's Comments

The first of my two very late Secret Santa gifts for puayen. I do hope I am forgiven. >.>

This is Cedna, a former-slave on another planet. I don't much more of the backstory on him, but I did the best I could.

Watercolors. And salt. xD

See the little dappled bits in the background? Salt does that. Put it directly on the paper while the paint's still wet, and it sucks up the water, and thus some of the paint, around it. Can be used in clumps for texture, or sparsely for a snowy look. Fun stuff. ^^

That's really cool. I wonder if it works with other mediums ^^ Thank you for telling me [emoticon]

It'll work with any water-soluble medium thin enough for the water to be soaked up. Generally, that means watercolors, but thinned-down acrylics and the like should also work.

Wow!!! Wonderful! You captured his feature/presence so well, and there's this air of south-east Asian from his realistic face. I'm been drawing him in very anime/cartoonish style, it's good to see him drawn this way- adds a new perspective.

A lovely watercolor! Soft and sensitive feel to it and a good use of salt. I see so many over use salt with watercolors, but this seems just right. Thanks for sharing it with us.
