I’m not quite finished but I need some advice with the colors for her coat lining, hairpiece and eyes. I intend the power ball to be light blue and the back ground to be mostly black and brown with a little purple. Please help.

What kind of powerball is it? General magic? Fire? air? Lightning?

It’s nothing in particular. I have no story behind this picture at all, its just one of those one that you get in you head and it wont leave you alone until you’re finished. So I suppose that would be general magic?

Oh. this is looking really good! Let's see.... I think perhaps a creamy colour would look nice for the inside of the coat... and maybe a sort-of burgandy for the trim and hair piece? Also, I think it would cool if her eyes and the orb were the same colour... maybe light blue??

(Oh, question- the colouring is very even- I'm guessing you didn't do it by hand. So- how did you? I'm quite terrible at colours, you see...)

Thanks for your suggestions; I really like the idea about the eyes.

I did the colouring in PhotoStudio (you could probably do the same sort of thing in PhotoShop). I started with a base colour then working with a darker version of the same colour and a low opacity I layered the shading working from the darkest part and making each layer slightly wider. I then did the same for highlighting only working with a lighter colour.
It’s a bit like the method one might your when painting.
