"Are you my daddy?"

Lexi felt tears rising to his eyes. "Yes...yes, I am your daddy."

The little boy looked down and the glanced back up at him with those big rainbow eyes. "Do...do you love me?"

A crack split straight through the sun elf's heart. "Of..of course!" he stuttered, stricken. "Of course I love you. Why wouldn't I?"

The little boy shrugged shyly and stared back at the floor. "I dunno...cause...cause you left Mommy..."

Those tears spilled over and Lexi just cradled the boy against him tightly. "Elijah," he whispered softly. "I love you with all that I am..."
