Pose practice

Artist's Comments

I have lately been trying to work on my poses and anatomy. Here are five basses I’ve done. I suppose the legs are a bit to long and the hands and feet need a little more work.

How are they coming on and which is you favorite?

Not one thing is wrong with ladies with long legs. They all are great.

I don't think the legs are too long at all, especially for an anime/comic style.

Her arms and ribcage are short, and her shoulders and chest are narrow. I think the fourth and fifth from the left are the worst in this regard. A ribcage should be large enough to comfortably hold the skull (in height and width, anyways), and from there the elbows should reach the waist and the hands should reach mid-thigh.

Take a look at some nude models who have this kind of young athlete physique, and look at things like what percentage of the full figure's height is taken up by each vertical element -- skull, neck, ribcage, etc.

Otherwise, they're really lovely -- you have a knack for the natural shape of joints and the way muscles create overall curvature.

Thanks I was using references for this. Thanks for the advice on the ribcage thing; I didn’t know that about proportions.

Actually, the legs look fine to me. These are really well done.
