Well, we'll see how long it takes for me to get sick of staring at my screen with the tablet in my hand trying out digital air brushing or what ever anyone wants to call it. It incorperates 2 things I hate. Colour, and digital T.T I'm gonna try it though to positivity is great guys.
Anyways, trying out what I think I've learnt with colour combos- probably failed, but at the moment, I don't care. Thought I'd try sans beard for the moment to get some practise- he looks alot more staunch in this version. I donno. Just playing at the moment.
Not ready for critique on this one- positive only please. I'm only posting this cause it took so f@#$ing long T.T The sketch took like... an hour. Seriously. I hate digital colouring- pencil is SO much faster for me T.T

Not sure which program you are using, but don't forget the Smug, and blur tools, they work great with shadows. And filters are always a great shortcut. --- Procrastinate Later! words to live by. |

arkillian (Reply)Total Posts: 2798May 12, 2008 1:18 pmPhotoshop CS2 with a wacom tablet, but this took AGES and its still very blurred and unrefined. I guess part of it is my frustration cause I hate digital. It's not horrible or anything- just... laboured T.T --- |

WildeKarde (Reply)Total Posts: 174May 12, 2008 9:29 pmOh yeah, It takes a whole lot of time. The beauty thou is working in layers you can try different thing. I have noticed that a lot of professional illustrators will paint in oil or acrylic and then take it to digital. I bet that saves on the time. --- Procrastinate Later! words to live by. |

arkillian (Reply)Total Posts: 2798May 12, 2008 9:50 pmMultimedia makes things nice and fast for me too, but paints are so messy that I sometimes can't be bothered cause of the clean up. I'm not that talented with wet media anyways. I reckon that this will get less annoying as I get better at it, but I don't think I'll ever like it as much as doing the pencil work. I need to develop as an artist though --- |

arkillian (Reply)Total Posts: 2798May 14, 2008 6:19 pmI'm not saying that I don't like it. It turned out well considering really. I don't like digital colouring though. It's very stressful for me. Maybe I'll like a bit more when I get use to it T.T --- |

arkillian (Reply)Total Posts: 2798May 14, 2008 6:18 pmIt's better for me anyways, but I like things I can physically feel. There's just something impersonal about a tablet that I can't describe to someone that doesn't use both regularly. I love pencil passionately. It does look crap scanned though --- |

blackwingedangel (Reply)Total Posts: 189May 15, 2008 12:54 amyeah I often have that problem to, my scanner always eat half the shading. In my opinion that is the best thing about digital art, the quality stays more or less the same. |

karana kaouTotal Posts: 1094May 24, 2008 6:37 pmI do very much like the color scheme you've used for this; the purples and blues highlight the intensity of emotion you're portraying. I think you're doing a magnificent job with it! --- "I am lost. I have gone to look for myself, if I get back, before I return, please tell me to wait." -Unknown |
