Finally, one in colour. Unfortunately, no background as of yet - but I had fun designing her and all her accessories. ;) Working on that whole detail thing. Mechanical pencil and colerase pencilcrayons on cheap sketchbook paper. 3-4 hours working time... I think closer to three.

Will do. Your aunty will help you, too! You see, you're surrounded by people who will help... When I first started, I got out a ton of books from the library with drawings in them, and just copied everyone else's artworks until I developed my own techniques and style (and I also had a fairly good grasp of anatomy)... Then I just kind of branched off from there.

          Good luck!

First off Robin, I love that you made her a red-head. Woot! One more for the red-heads. I think the coloring on this one is so dynamic Robin. It is so soft and really makes this look, well, kind of peaceful. I eally hope that you will color more of these hun. I love your colored drawings. But your watercolors will always be my favorite. My Kudos on this one. She is definitely going into my faves.

Soft seems to be the style that these pencilcrayons give out. I was just going for earth tones, but the pencils wanted everything very light and airy. THat's ok - this means that I now know what to use when I want that type of style.

It's almost time for me to break out the watercolours again, I think. A few more designs and pencil drawings to go first, though. This one I just drew last night, and decided it would be a colour. I'm having a lot of fun with my mechanical pencil, though, and I've been in the mood for detailing (*gasp*) so I'd better get some more stuff done before the desire escapes me again. Grin

I was thinking of you when I coloured her... That's why her hair's the same hue. Much love always!

You really did think of me? Innocent Oh, that is so nice of you. ^_^ I am honored. I can't wait to see more of your water colors. They are my favorite. You so rock Robin!

Oooo, so pretty, as always! I love the red touches in this, makes her seem alive. And I can definitely tell and appreciate the detail you placed in this, it really adds something special to it. The one thing that's throwing me off a little is the angle of her jaw. I don't know if it's because of the hair flying in front of her face, or if it's the jaw itself. But it seems a bit sharp to me. Other than that, this is very beautiful...and I still can't fathom how to do folds in material like you do...It's beyond me... Laughing
    • Aug 17, 2005, 8:05:35 PM UTC
Yes, the sharpness of her jaw is accentuated by the hair - her jawline is actually underneath that wisp, if you look REALLY closely. :S But in all honesty, I wanted her to look a little exotic to the point where she's almost inhuman, so I didn't bother to fix that flaw when I was doing it. Does it bug you too much? These are erasable, so I could make the attempt at a remedy.

My grasp of folds in material comes from dancing in the wind a lot while wearing loose flowing clothing... and watching children do the same. I do a lot of people-watching in all types of weather. ROFL

How neat! Well, it's definitely a worthwhile technique; you've got those folds down COMPLETELY. And, I do think widening that lower part of the jaw will really tie this together. Don't hurt yourself fixing it though, because I still think it's beautiful. Smile

Fixed! But it's going to be a little while before I upload it again. Tongue I'm working on Roth.

    Edit: oops I didn't read it...you said what you used...sorry I wasn't paying attention...as always lol!

Yup! Just plain old erasable pencilcrayons - nothing more. It was tough colouring all those little details. I can't believe Lloyd hasn't gone absolutely off his rocker yet. Then again - he doesn't colour them, he just graphites them up. Tongue

Thanks, Mallie, for the review. It's always good to hear from you. Grin
