This is a WIP that is based off a very old watercolour painting I did two years ago.  The original painting was part of a set of twelve meant to represent the western astrological zodiac.  The original was one of my more favourite pieces, and since I liked it so much I painting it again, but this time, digitally and with Corel Painter Essentials 2.0.

It's a fun yet tough program to use so if anyone's got some suggestions that'd be great.  I still have yet to do another fish, as well as the fins on the white one.

I don't have any suggestions for the corel part (I use photoshop), busince you're wanting advanced crit, I will meantion that I can't tell what's happening in this picture, or really what the subject is. I see a swirl with whiskers... is it a cat fish? Everythign is blurred though so I find it difficult. Is it going to become more detailed than this eventually? If not, there isn't much to look at in the picture being as blurred as this Sad Sorry.

Oh yeah, as I get farther along it should become more detailed. It's really rough, and there's a whoel other fish that has yet to be painted in, and the already existing fish still needs fins. But I'll make sure to keep in mind what you said about it being blurry

I quite like this. I wish I could give a more helpful critique, but I'm a pretty lousy artist...

Thanks for taking the time to comment and critques are easy. you just give an honest explaination of what you think/feel when you see the piece. What would you do, any ideas, suggestions? And nobody is a lousy artist, they're on the learning curve

I like the colours you used. The green against the blue gives the piece a mystical feel. Being a writer (aspiring only!), a scenario develops in my mind when I see the piece: The way the creature seems to be circling the orb seems possessive - as if it's found something special, some treasure from the unknown world above, and it's guarding it...though it doesn't know why it's special - just that it is. That's the scenario I get from looking at your piece.
I'm not sure if that helped, but those are my feelings on the piece.

Thanbk you and, yes, this critique most certainly helped. Now I know that at least *one* person caught on to what was supposed to be going on in the piece. lol

This is absolutely gorgeous. I love the colors you've chosen.
