I think she must have awfully tough hands to be doing that sort of thing without a thimble. I'm doing my best, and hoping to have it turn out as I imagine it... After all, I AM getting paid. Not much, but enough.

But getting payed for you work tells you too that your kind of work is very much liked and wanted At least you're able to get the image you want pulled from your head and out of the artists tool onto paper, I am still struggling with that phase lol. I've been paid a couple times for my artworkses. Mostly from people that know me, though, so it's not as special.

I don't always get the image I want.. I just tend to not show it when I feel it's wrong. A lot of the pinup cards aren't what I had originally imagined them to be - but since they're sketches I posted them anyhow, with the intention of fixing them in the future.

Still, years of drawing day in and day out - and not drawing the same thing over and over - will certainly help improve one's ability to translate their imaginings into a piece of art. I'm not that good at it yet, I don't think. More practise could get me lots further.

You're welcome Robin Most of our artwork we do, tend to just change right from under our noses, because our minds are jsut teaming with little ideas that beg to be drawn. So though we plan for them to be done a certain way, they usually turn out unexpectedly different. But more often than not, they still have the same basic idea to them that you had foreseen in your minds eye ^^. I like that though, because it lets me know my creative side is awake, and is calling out to me to do something with it hehe. And practicing at whatever talent one has, will most often wield greater success at what they do. "Practice makes perfect" And everyone knows full well it's true. So keep on practicing at what you do, and you get the results you want

*grin* Usually when I start a detailed piece like this, though, I do a bunch of sketches first to see if I can get one I like best - something that fits my artistic needs and still portrays the idea I want. In this case, I'm short on time, so Ihave to just wing it - but I think it will be ok.

That's about how my face scrunches up when I'm concentrating. The only difference is that when I'm concentrating, I also stick out my tongue. I think it looks kinda funny, but I'll never know.

I'm hoping that I'll get enough done tonight to post the second stage.

I should be able to get the figure part done today, I think. We'll see how it goes. I have to look up details on leather breeches. The embroidery on her shirt (you can't see it in the lineart) was a pain in the bum, but I think all in all things will turn out well. Thanks for showing interest, Zac!

I'm just working on her breeches now, and then I think I'll post her before I work on her some more... I hope I get it done in time. There's still the whole background, and the other picture. :S

Usually it depends on the man hours involved. This particular picture, when all finished, will be worth (in my mind) around $50 Canadian. I charged less than that, because my mother is the one who commissioned me, and I can't see myself chrging my mother $100 for drawings. But regular charge for something this detailed would be about $50. For something less detailed, more sketchy, I'd be looking at between $20 and $30 Canadian.

hmmmm- how does this compare to Kiwi dollars? Double? Triple? Hmmmmmm.... If its only double, I may get a commission done Interested?

English rips my heart out and squshes it about before shoving it back in with 1:3 Aussy dollars is slightly more than Kiwi, but I could've handled anything upto double ^^ Its a goer!!

OH! Oops, my bad. In NZ dollars, $50.00 Canadian is $60.69. Does that make more sense?

I only wanted a rough figure. Around Australian currency is what I needed to hear. Australian is slightly more than ours, and if its slightly more than that, then its sure as heck less than American's exchange rate which is GOOD!! :dances:
