Contemplation

Art I did for my Monday night "Expressive Arts for Change" class. Raditz being all contemplative and whatever.

Fic snippet that goes with it:

Raditz sat before the fire, gazing into the flickering golden flames. Sparks popped and cracked in the air before his face, but his eyes never wavered.

Bardock watched from a distance with his brow furrowed in concern. He turned to Toma and looked critically at him. “You're certain this is normal?” he asked.

Toma nodded. “You remember what Roma was like during the lowest days of the moon,” he said. “Our shamans feel their connection to the moon very strongly – much more strongly than the average Saiyan does. He needs this time of quiet for going inside himself; his abilities as a shaman are new to him. Roma was raised from a very young age in the shamanic traditions, because his abilities were spotted early; Raditz was not so fortunate.”

Bardock pinched the bridge of his nose. “I don't understand how we could have missed it,” he said. “Yeah, we were away on missions a lot, but he never once said anything. Never.”

“He was young when Planet Vegeta was destroyed,” Toma remarked. “And he was also enthusiastic about his missions – much like yourself. That's why he was off world when it happened.”

Toma paused. After a moment of silence, Bardock narrowed his eyes and scrutinized the other man. “What is it?” he demanded.

Toma looked Bardock over speculatively for a moment before he replied. “Do you remember our last mission together? When you were hit by that Kanassan, and he claimed he gave you the ability to see the future through visions?”
