The Beginning

"Lovely sunset, isn't it?"

He looked up to find the voice belonged to a thin, young-faced man - 20 at best, if he had to guess - with honey-yellow hair and a thoughtful smile.

Jensen hesitated a moment, then nodded. "Lovely."

Quite without invitation, the young man sat down beside him, leaning back on his hands and folding one leg delicately over the other. Just when the silence had lasted long enough that Jensen opened his mouth to speak up, he was beaten to it.

"You look a bit lost, mate."

What's it the beginning of? A beautiful friendship. Or the Osprey crew as we know it, your pick. A scene from this year's NaNo novel (in progress!) wherein young Jensen, having just quit the Navy and gone down to the airship harbor to do a little thinking, meets younger Asher for the first time. They're about 29 and 20 here, respectively.

Just a quick doodle to pass the morning. There will be many more illustrations for this story, I guarantee that much.
