Blackwing Guard - FF7

While leaving the ancestral lands is by no means forbidden, the vast majority of the Blackwing tribe is still found in the forests and mountain valleys between Bone Village and the Northern Crater. The mainland settlement of Icicle must be reached by following the western coastline, as the Blackwings are not fond of entertaining uninvited guests. Sentries are posted to intercept intruders and wanderers, while guards will stay within a defined radius of the chieftain. This is usually around the center of the village, but also extends to personal protection when the chieftain leads hunts and, on occasion, battles, while the warriors chase down enemies at any distance.

As with the Whitefalcon tribe of the Gongaga jungle, another descendant of avian spirits, the Blackwings dwell in the sturdy trees of their homelands. The structures are evolved hybrids of woven nests and animal hide tents around wooden pole frames. Trees are claimed by reward, gifting or inheritance, and marked with an emblem of the Blackwing that resides in its branches.

The visitors that are allowed into Blackwing territory are often surprised that the people as a whole are unaffected by the colder northern climate, wearing minimal cover until winter.
