Reina's Strings *Line Art*

This character and I share a name, not because I'm a narcissist or an egomaniac who wants to forever preserve myself (although that may be part of it... ^.^;;), but because she really is me. By nature, I'm extremely optomistic and find it hard to display any other side of myself. This character does that, so she got my name, my face, and my general attitude. In short, she's a pictoral representation of me that allows me to express myself. Anyway.

This is line art for a picture of Reina that I've become utterly enthralled with. Seriously. I can't stop working on it.

The pink thing is a weaving of Reina's fate strings (thus the title). As a patternweaver, Reina can control the threads of fate by weaving and singing them into patterns. She doesn't necessarily need to move to weave them, thus the reason she has a full-out weave around her right now.

The weave was created with my Celtic knot tutorial and three different brushes. It made my head hurt.

    I see. Yeah, you can really pick a few things from other artists here stylewise. That's what's good about it. Hmm.. I wish I had a tablet.

      Tablet=God.

      I heart the artists around here. All the deverse styles in an itty bitty space. It excites me.

    This is really well done. I wanted to say that for a while now but I didn't get around to. You have a unique style and skill. And I like that you made your own character. This is a brilliant idea. Being a lineart it looks very decorative. And I love the black and pink colors. You used a tablet to do her?

      Oh, yes. My tablet is my precious, lol.

      It was done to be deliberately decorative as lineart. I was trying to mimick Nuriko Windchaser's style in how she does these amazing lines. It didn't work quite like that, but I like the result anyway.

      She's half colored right now... Hopefully I'll be able to finished this and get the effect on the strings down the right way. They're supposed to glow a certain way, and I've been fighting photoshop about it.

    excellent linework. you've really done well with variance in line weight. You have a really nice graphical style here too.

      The whole point of this was for me to work with lines, so I'm glad it shows! Thanks for the lovely comment.
