Rock Dragon

In the United States we enhance the beauty our front yards by putting really large, tacky cement animals in them. This practice is  similar to the Gnome asthetic movement, but with larger subject matter: deer, bears, squirrels, ducks, flamingos etc.  Is this a common practice in other countries?? I simply love schlocky yard art, and I have always wanted to sculpt some of these myself.

This dragon is as close as I've gotten to producing yard ornaments, so far.

This dragon and his rock ( which was a real rock that I sculpted the clay dragon onto) are cast in cement. This sculpture is about fourteen inches long (35 cm aprox.) He has orange glass eyes.

We no longer cast these dragons in cement, since almost nobody actually puts them outside, and cement is darn heavy to ship.

In the future we may cast more of these guys in gypsum, for indor display.

Yes he does resemble a bearded dragon, maybe crossed with a monitor lizard.

That's a lovely intricate piece of work. I wouldn't want to put it out in the yard in case someone who likes it as much as I do steals it Smile
