Pinkypie

I'm saving up to buy an artist tablet, a new computer system, and possibly new art software(I currently use GIMP for my digital artwork), therefore I've temporarily abandoned using GIMP and other software based mediums for my art, and went back and re-learned the basics for coloring with pencils. These may not be the best, but they're ALLOT better than back when I used color pencils before I started doing all my coloring digitally, and in my mind at least they look much better than my digital ones as well. So for now I'm sticking with doing everything by hand, scanning, and posting. The only digital editing I do now, is enhance the colors a bit, since in the scanning the colors come out slightly washed out and faded compared to on paper, therefore I darken the image and brighten the colors a bit more. However I do no digital editing of my images beyond that.

I had a week long project that consisted of drawing, redrawing, and hand coloring each of the main MLP characters as humans. This one is Pinkypie

Outrageous and hyperactive, she loves her bright colors as well as jumping about actively, not caring of what may show as she does so. I placed her Cute Mark just above/on(depending on how you look at it)her left breast.

    Cute anthropomorphism!

First, the tablet is worth it. Second, if you're going to do traditional colors, have you tried crayons or markers?

I've tried markers, but I have no crayons. Using Markers failed miserably, even after watching many professional instructional videos, but I'm doing great with the colored pencils. I just need more colors, now I've only got a few, though enough to cover the full color spectrum.

It's a personal preference, right? Just don't make my mistake and try oil pastels. (And I think all the anthro ponies were great!)

Oh believe me I won't. I've used oil pastels before, but that was in art class, on a huge canvas. Before I chose pencils, I watched a video on how to color with oil pastels. I just sort of went "Uuuuh No." lol

I'm glad my ponies turned out. For my next project I was thinking of doing the Cutie Mark Crusaders, and Big Macintosh(he's my fave brony Tongue)
