It's been forever since I posted here, I had an issue that prevented me from getting for a while, though now that I've figured it out, I'm hoping to post a lot to catch up! I have a lot of stuff to get on here, but I don't want to flood the site.

I'm glad this piece has finally made it's way onto the site, it has experienced delay after delay! I sketched it in the middle of the semester... in spring. I got around to working on it digitally a few months later, but I had to work on other things, so delayed 2 happened. When I started on it again, the asks opened a little after, so delay 3, and then about a month after that I finally finished it. Then, of course, all the time I couldn't get on here was a final delay. Hopefully the segmented time I spent on it shows!

This shows one of my kiddos~ She'svery enthusiastic :) I haven't done a digital piece of her in ages, it's so overdue! She loves to run around and do stuff, and when she gets excited, she is loud, heh!  She's such a puppy <3 In this, she's at lessons right now, though the session is probably over since the room is so empty (and trashed *cough*)(I literally sat down and thought about what state a group of young dragons would leave a classroom in, it's a bit different but very similar to how human students would lol). She likes to wear accessories and clothes, like her hood here, which she's particularly fond of!

For those who are wondering, the fabric hanging off the shelves is attached to books. It's so quadrupeds like the dragon kids can pick them up and carry them easily without shredding the covers, they can just bite the (much easier to replace and removable) fabric and go~ Scrolls have a protective backing and hard caps, so they look pretty standard.

Art and character belong to me, don't steal or repost~

Oh I just noticed your request for critique. I would suggest broadening the range of values (light and dark) for your character so it's easier to define the volumes. So make the lit areas a little lighter and keep the shadows dark. I hope that helps Smile

That is fair, it's an issue I struggle with, especially on darker colored characters, since brightening the colors looses the darkness of the actual scales.

That is really clever that the books have cloth to grab.

I like the hood and the glowy bits. Also you did a great job on the background!

Thanks! I love thinking of how creatures significantly different from us would design utilities specifically for their needs, especially since a lot of people use human designs and don't think through how a creature without hands would use it (or explain it away with levitation magic, which is lazy in my opinion).

I was inspired to do the hood from something an artist I like did. The spots actually don't glow, they just are greatly lighter in color than the rest of her scales, though the illusion of glowing is good, it's meant to imitate light speckling the forest floor like in baby deer. Smile

Yep, she's very speckly, it's fun Smile I'm glad it's enjoyed!
