My part for an art exchange in a group. This cute boy belongs to alari1234 from deviantart, and his name is Yue. When I saw him, I thought he was such a sweet looking dragon, he has a great design, the silver and various violets were so much fun to work with and look grea
When brain storming for what to do, I thought about doing something at night, but then I remembered that I still need practice with night scenes so it would probably end up with Yue being close to unseeable, so I backed it up to sunset. I imagine he's off to a party and is contributing some candy, that's what's with the lights in the trees. I feel pretty good about the background in this, I like how the water came out for the most part- the movement and definition is where I want it to be, but it's too murky and brown for my liking. I know what to do next time though, so good progress was made in my book!

I like the evening lighting, and *adore* all the tiny little details you worked into the feathers.
This is really pretty. The flora in the background is gorgeous, and Yue himself looks great. I *love* the prominence of the river and twin waterfalls in the piece. The water may be a little murky, but I think it fits the time of day you drew it in?
As you can probably guess by my username, I love sunset, twilight, and dusk when it comes to time of day, so I may be biased, but I really love this piece.
Thank you! I'm constantly trying to improve on the flora aspects of my pieces, especially when it comes to forest floors, but I don't get the chance to go to actual forests often, and references only get you so far, so it's a challenge. Purple and silver is a lovely combination, and purple is complimentary to yellow/gold, so the time of day is really working with him here, though he is a good looking boy I can see why you like sunsets and the like, the colors are so intense and contrast gets strong and super lovely!
The waterfall wasn't originally planned, but I'm glad I included it, good practice and it brought the horizon up, which helped tie the piece together~ I can see what you mean about the water, though it needs some darker spots for me to be happy with it- but hey, that just means I know what I'll be doing at some point in the future
