The Twins, Take 2 (sketch)

Posted Jan 25, 2018, 4:40:51 AM UTC

Not long ago I drew this sketch of the Snowflower Twins. I actually inked and attempted to color that sketch, but I was very dissatisfied with my color job and probably won't be posting it here. So I wanted to try again, this time with a more interesting pose than just standing facing straight towards the viewer. Originally this was going to be a clothed drawing, but after drawing their bodies and ending up actually quite satisfied with my handiwork for a change, it almost seems a shame to add the clothes in, so I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet (suggestions would be welcome and probably help curb my indecisiveness XD).

Rose (right) copying her twin's "hair over one eye" style wasn't originally intended, but I was playing around with different possible ways for her hair to lay, and I tried this out because why not, and it actually kind of amused me to have the twins looking even more identical.

On that note, I swear Azalea (left) actually has a right eye. Probably. Maybe...?

Obviously this is a *very* unfinished sketch. Whether I add clothes or not, I need to finish their feet, add a background, and add in their Green Elf features (glowy lines and vines and such). Hopefully I'll make it to the inking and color phase with this one and have something nice to put up in a bit.

I like how they came out, I think it would be neat to leave them like so. It's good anatomy practice, and it would be a waste to cover up how they came out. Maybe they could be in a public bath or went for a swim in nature? Or were in the garden? I like the sketch so far Smile

One day Azalea will have a right eye reveal! (Or shall there be a #plottwist?? stay tuned! XD)

Hehehe, the best part is they wear glasses sometimes, but with one of their eyes still covered by their hair. XD

Do the glasses go behind the hair or sit in front of it?

glasses behind the hair. I can't imagine having hair under one's glasses. As an irl glasses wearer, the thought of that makes me shudder.

I agree, realistically it would be super uncomfortable, though some people make decisions like that intentionally for effect. So are their glasses like ours, or do they work in a different means/have other uses? The elves have developed very differently from us, so it would be interesting if so.

I like the stylized curls on the right one's bangs, and the soft curved lines on the left one's spine and hips.

Thanks. ^^ I've made some more progress since posting this; adding in a simple background and a couple nature spirits that the twins are looking at, as well as their Green Elf markings. I'll post the final piece when it's done, if I'm satisfied with it (here's hoping).

My thought's are to give them flower clothing if you want to give them something.Something with petals, vines, flowers etc...

IT's fun to re do old art- I'm glad you're giving this one another try Smile IT's looking good so far Smile

      Thanks. ^^

That feeling of dissatisfaction with a piece you had high hopes for is frustrating as hell, but there's nothing quite like the feeling of accomplishment when you manage to take the idea from said piece and do something you ARE satisfied with, don't you think?

Yeah- I've redrawn a lot of my old pieces and added in stuff I couldn't do at the time or just made a better job of it. It's very satisfying Smile
