In the Meadow...

Awww Zac... what you said almost made cry. I am such a girl. I was so inspired by your last drawing, that I decided I wanted to do something fantastical. And I am working my butt off to improve my realism skills. And actually to improve my backgrounds. So it really means alot to me that you can see that. I am still trying to get better at shading though. Though this shadng I have done is the lightest I have ever done, it should still be more soft. It should be a little more subtle than what it is. Ah... we are our own worst critics, no? I will get there eventually. Thank you so much for the kind review. You made my day brighter. ^_^

Susie... I cannot even begin to express how much that means to me coming from you. I always get so much inspiration from your artwork, so to hear that kind of compliment is truly amazing. And I would love to put this on the store. I just need to know the guidelines and whatnot for it. Is there some info for it in any of the forums or anything? Just let me know and I will be more than happy to put it in the store. Now, you should go and draw some more of those amazing pictures of yours that everyone falls in love with. Thank you so much for your wonderful compliments on this drawing of mine. I am so glad that my dedication to this one is noticable. I have been working really hard lately (especially on this one in particular) and trying to catch all of the "mishaps" before I post. I wanted to challenge myself to actually do an awesome background for this. Not just a good one. But a great one because I want to be able to make art that people can't take their eyes off of. That is what I strive for. And when my hard work is noticed by others, it is an awesome feeling. I am filled with pride and a new self-respect because I feel like I can do more than just be a mother and a housekeeper or whatever. You know? So thank you for all of your praise and for always helping me to become the best that I can. Not as good as someone else, but as good as I can be. That damn grass took me a little over an hour to get just right. I didn't want to rush anything in it. Thank you so very much Maria. I think that was one of the more difficult aspects of this drawing. Making them all have their different values so they didn't take away from each other and trying to make the characters live in perfect harmony with the background. I had to figure out which parts of the grass needed to be darker and lighter so as not to draw the eye down to the bottom of the page away from the characters, and for the leaves, I had to make sure I changed things up with those so they wouldn't blend in together... arrrggg! There is so much to remember when trying to achieve balance in a drawing. Especially one that has such an involved background like this. I did use references for a couple of the poses. Just to see exactly what should go where in the different poses. I used reference for the large fairy and the satyr. But the others were drawn from trial and error. LOL I did use reference for the butterfly wings. The good thing about butterfly wings is that if you draw them once, it is easy to remember how to draw them again. They are not too terribly difficult to do. Thank goodness. I am so happy that you really like it. I am trying to challenge myself now to catch the things that are wrong before I post now. I want to start making my drawings look awesome. Not just good. So thank you for noticing my hard work. That means so much to me. All my love to you. mwah!

I think this is the best background I have ever done in my life. That grass alone was a pain. >_< But I wanted to make sure I did my very best. I didn't want to rush anything. Thank you so very much Lisi. I am totally beaming with pride on this one. I think it is definitely the best that I have done so far and I am anxious to get started on a new one soon. But this one I really took my time on and paid extra attention to all of the little details in it to make it look good. I had to make sure I had the hands looking right and make sure they all had feet the way they are supposed to be. I tend to give my people two of the same feet. >_< I still have a ways to go on my shading. I need to make it more subtle, but I am on my way. Thank you so much for all of your love and support. I am trying to fix any problems in my drawings now before I post them. I was inspired by a couple of artists who are so wonderfully gifted especially with drawing fantasy and I wanted to try my hand at it. I think this one is the most special to me because I put my heart and soul into it. And knowing that my one little drawing can make people feel like they are somewhere enchanted is enough to make me the happiest person in the world.
