Calendar Gurlz - June

Posted Jan 9, 2006, 2:18:30 AM UTC
Whew... halfway done. We are half-way through this calendar and so far, so good.  For June here, I really like how the pose turned out. It took me a while to get the legs in the right position though. Eventually I had to have my niece sit and model for me. >_< What is it with me and drawing legs lately? I can never seem to get them right anymore. On another note, I think I am a pro at drawing hands now, which is quite comforting considering I used to completely suck at drawing hands. Damn... now I am rambling. OKay... just enjoy everyone. Only 6 left to go. Woot! :)

Wheee! That looks like fun Smile I really think the pink hair/green eyes combo on this girl is beautiful and summery. And I agree with you, the hands are fabulous. Can you teach me, o great Hand Master? Laughing

I kind of missed posting her yesterday because I was so busy at home and stuff. but she is here now. And tomorrow morning I will post August. Yes August is probably the most detailed. Oh, this is so adorable!!!I just love the bikini on her. The highlighting and the shading is very well done. The popsicle adds a nice touch, too. Oh, how I wish it was summer right now!!
    • Jan 9, 2006, 3:42:04 PM UTC
Thank you honey. I am so glad that you like her. I think she came out rather nice too. ^^ I thought the popsicle would add that certain little something "extra" to it. I am actually trying my hardest to get better at my shading/highlighting. As far as these girls go, I use the base color for their flesh and then I erase it from a couple of places here and there (like the top of the shoulders, the top of the knees, thighs, etc.) to give it some reflective light and then do the shadow with the darker color. And I think it is working well for me. ^^ Yay! I never thought I would ever say that about myself, but I am quite proud of this project. It has been alot of hard work, but it is definitely paying off because you guys all seem to like my characters. So I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your interest in this calendar I am doing. I am having so much fun and trying something new. All my love to you hun. *huggles*

Oh it is a nice pic!I love her hair color and her eye color Smile You did do very well on her hands..*pouts* I wish I didn't have a hard time at drawing them.Well done! ^__^

Heehee. Know what/ I think you may very well be the very first person that has ever given me a positive comment about hands. Here's the thing... when I first came to this site, I sucked sooooo bad at drawing hands. I am talking really badly sucked. But my dear friend MiniMaid gave me some advice and some reference pics and now I have developed a style that works quite well for me. So THANK YOU so very much for noticing that sweetie. Isn't it hilarious what gets me happy? Smile I love the hair color on her too. I thought the green eyes would look the best with this hair color. Almost like a watermelon. Ponder Just keep practicing drawing hands my dear. You will develop your style of them soon enough. Yes Much love. ^_^

I hope I will develop my own style of hands soon.I mean hands are so much harder than they look, some people take a lot of time with trying to draw them and it gets very annoying after a while of trying to draw them. But it is always worth it to make the pic look good.Anyways you are very welcome! ^__^

Oh man... I know exactly what you mean. I drove myself crazy trying to draw hands right. Y'know... I have another friend over at Deviantart who has asked for my help on how to draw hands and I was thinking about making her a step-by-step tut of how I draw mine. Maybe I will post it here as well. There unfortunately is no real easy way to draw them. I will just make it the easiest way I know how. Just stick with what you are doing hun. You will be doing them picture perfect in no time. Yes

Step-by -step ?! Really that would be awesome if you posted that on here! I could really use it.And Believe me over the years of drawing I realized how hard hands can be >.< The simplest things are usually the hardest.*Sigh*

Hey! That's my birthday month too! *grin*

Wonderfully done yet again. THe only thing I see popping out at me is that she seems weightless... Her bum doesn't squish down like most people's would. Other than that... Love and hugs!

I know I know. I see what you mean about the bum. Perhaps I will just pretend that she has no butt. That's what I'll do. Yes I am glad that she turnedout pretty good for the most part though. It is the legs that I had so many problems with. I eventually had to use my niece as a model for me so I could draw this position. I just couldn't get them to look like they were coming at us enough. But eventually, I got it. Thank goodness. Most of these girls' poses I have done completely from my own little warped mind. There are only a few instances here and there when I have had to use a live model. And I am quite proud of that. Pretty soon, I will be able to get these poses down like second nature. Yes I am just glad that I haven't driven myself crazy yet with it. Laughing Well, I suppose I should get back to work. I need to get July done so I can post it while the night is still young. All my love to you. Mwah!

I love this one! Not to mention it's in the month of my birthday...hehehe...And I do love her pose, it seems very natural and fitting for the month you're portraying her in. Thumbs Up girlie!

Thank you hun. ^^ Your birthday is in June? So is Minimaid's! And my brother's. His is June 8th. I am happy that Miss June here is getting some love. I think her face turned out the cutest out of all the girls I have done. Well, actually, it is a toss-up between her and December. I can't wait to show off December. She is adorable. ^^ I am really happy with the pose too. It took me a while to get the legs to look like they were coming towards us a bit. I almost went crazy trying to get the legs right. Eventually I had to have my niece pose for me. That was alot easier than doing it off the top of my head. Thank you so much for always giving me such wonderful comments and advice on my work Heidi. I can't express my appreciation enough. All my love and huggles to you. ^_^
      • Jan 9, 2006, 11:11:48 AM UTC
Hehehe, yup, June 4. Smile And I applaud you for sticking with the legs; when I get frustrated like that, I have a bad habit of quitting. Annoyed And I've had the experience of working from live models as well, there's really nothing that compares to it.
        • Jan 9, 2006, 3:08:14 PM UTC
Oy... I hear you there. I used to up and quit when I got tired of having what I was working on not turn out. I have a bad habit of getting EXTREMELY frustrated at my work. But lately, I stick with it because I KNOW I can do it. It is just a matter of tweaking it until it looks right. But it does get very annoying. And I completely agree with you as far as the live model thing goes. It really is alot easier to have someone sit there for you. I think it is actually better than using a reference pic. But that's just my opinion. All my love to you. ^_^
