CyberDawn Version 2.0

Posted Apr 9, 2006, 5:40:08 AM UTC
Tossed out the first drawing of Dawn after several attempts to fix her legs.  Realized I wasn't happy with the overall picture, so why bother fixing the legs?  So, I started from scratch and am pleased that I did.  The scan really washed things out, so I will probably fine tune this a little bit.   Damn scanner... *kicks it*

Update 4/10/06:  Cleaned up the paper with handy eraser and darkened up some things, rescanned and adjusted the levels.  Think she looks a lot sharper now. =)

Why not make the gun to big for the hand?

She reminds me of a blond version of Cassie, the Hack/Slash main character.

Beyond the obvious sexuality here, there is the symbolism of protecting vulnerability. She has been crying, but the main signal is that whoever caused that will not be allowed to do it again!

The gun is wayyy too big for her hand. How is her thumb even wrapped around the other side like it is supposed to be? I would at least resize the handle to make it more realistic.

Everything else looks fine, even the anatomy.

This looks awesome Yes The gun looks great too. I'm horrible at drawing guns even though nearly all of my characters have guns Sweat Drop And that sucks about your scanner you should get a digital photo one works wonders Smile

I had my husband help me with the gun. I should ask him to post the little "tutorial" he drew up for me regarding gun drawing. It has really made it so much easier - weapons in general are such a daunting task for me! Thank you for complimenting my gun though - means a lot to me! Corky Smile

Yeah no problem Smile Weapons are hard for me to draw too but no worries you have weapons down perfectly to me Grin

I think before I rescan, I should clean up all the smudgies first... then I'll try to use some program to fix the levels.

Ah Dawn, great. Will you be color her? With her bright red hair, it would look awesome. Not tthat it's not awesome as it is...great!

It's doubtful I'll color her. I'm not good with any traditional media, and I don't have photoshop or anything. Slant
      • Apr 16, 2006, 5:52:52 AM UTC
Well, you could always color her the traditional way. I never use any software for my drawing, i'm an old style artist Grin

I'm not confident enough to go messing with the colors in any traditional media No
Only with the lovely option of "redo" offered in Photoshop will I attempt color! Sweat Drop

Laughing i actually reread better and saw that you were already saying something like that, but i had already send you the reply...silly me. But, maybe this tip will help you, Themusicdied gave it to me, make a pale photocopy and practise, it's awesome to get the hang of a media and also, not to ruin a drawing Wink

Amp up the levels on it till your darkest colour is balck, and you whites are white. That's what I'd do ^^ My scanner sucks too.
    • Apr 9, 2006, 6:10:52 PM UTC
Good idea - I gotta clena up all the smudginess first though or it's gonna really look dirty! Sweat Drop
      • Apr 9, 2006, 8:17:35 PM UTC
Try bumping it up first. It may fix that for you Wink
        • Apr 10, 2006, 8:16:31 AM UTC
*bump* I did erase a lot of smudges first, but did as you suggested and it looks a lot better!
          • Apr 10, 2006, 2:53:20 PM UTC
Theeeeere we go :3 It does look alot better ^^ The problem with adjusting levels is that you lose the gradual change in grey scale, but as long as the origanal is as clean as you can make it, then usually it doesn't get too effected. This is a huge improvement though!! Big Smile
