Shapes Comp

Posted Nov 7, 2004, 3:50:21 PM UTC

This was an assignment for visual principles class. Its a comp done in Illustrator with shapes. The goal was to compose a shot from a screenplay, decide on focal points, and make the value structure agree with the value points. I was pretty successful with this assignment. Working with the shapes really makes it interesting to look at. The screenplay we were given was a few scenes from Miller's Crossing.

Woot! Value reduction! Those things are so very much fun to do, computerized or not. This one is more complicated and beautiful than any of the ones I myself have had to do... I really love the crystalline light.

Yeah thank you. I tried to get some atmospheric perspective going on in there.

It is certainly there. I think if it weren't, you'd be receiving comments talking about perspective ambiguity, etc. The diagonal helps loads, as well.

It is a style which I had never seen in your drawings of before, it is very original! I am sorry, it had been a loong time that I didn't come in your site.

Thank you. Yeah I'd never heard of the movie before either. That's why our teacher picked it.
