    Strait pimpin, yo!
This is really well done, and I especially like the way you accentuated it with small details, such as the veins in the exposed arm, cracks in the nearby shield, and the overlapping bands of the shoulder armor and boots.

    Excellent work!

Thank you, i've tried to get in as much detail as I can when I do a pic like this (it helps hide mistakes) and i'm always happy when their noticed.

I understand what ya mean. I have a tendency to use shading to hide mistakes sometimes.

Thank you Mallie! I was trying to put a certain barbarian feel with Roth here and I thought the buffalo would add that certain savageness and kinda of machoness also, lol. I'm very happy you commented.

Oh your welcome!! And you can call me Mal..if you want...I mean ..Mallie...people don't call me to often lol...I don't mean to be so open, but people normally call me Mal or Mallory...but whatever is comfortable to you! Smile And I love the barbarian thing you have going it is really cool!!
        • Jul 27, 2005, 9:55:02 PM UTC
Thank you Mallie! Or Mal, I like it. I'm glad the barbarian thing is to your liking, you wouldn't believe how many complaints i've gotten about the buffalo head. I had one person actualy tell me that I should be shot and my head mounted for portraying the wholesale killing of an animal for someone's groin decoration, lol. I tried to explain that this was just a drawing but they would have none of my excuses. LOL! By the way, since were on the subject, you can call me Lloyd, all of my friends do, *smiles*.

LOL!! Omg ...they must have some major issus lol!! I am glad you cleared it with them lol. Yea I am glad you are calling me Mal...because you see my boy friend calls me Mallie alll the time...just to get to me...so it is better to call me Mal...thanks. I just didn't want you to call me something you didn't feel comfortable calling me lol! Ok I will call you Lloyd from now on. I have like once or twice, but I didn't want to call you it and have you be upset...I worry to much..I need to stop lol!! Smile

This will always be one of my favorite works of your, this was one of the first pics of yours I ever saw. I think it is a shining example of graphite perfection.

I don't know what to say.... I am honored that you think so highly of my work.
  • Jul 7, 2005, 11:35:17 AM UTC
I don't know what they gave you before you started drawing this, but I want the same! Hell, this is good work. It doesn't matter if there are mistakes in the drawing, because you cover everything up with the beauty of shadow.
    • Jul 7, 2005, 10:57:26 PM UTC
Thank you very much! I like to think that my shadowing is getting better and truth to tell it does help me cover mistakes.

Have you considered going to college to study art? You would benifit a lot from it. You'd be able to see that his torso is too short before spending hours rendering it. This one I think is rendered the best but has the most porportion issues of the artwork you've uploaded. Block in your figures first and make sure they are porportionate before rendering.

Thanks for the advice. I'm not sure if i'll be enrolling in any art courses anytime soon though as i'm realy stretched to my limit when it comes to available time. I do appreciate the feedback though.

wow, i would not have noticed any of those. makes me not want to draw anymore.
      • Oct 9, 2009, 10:14:29 AM UTC
No don't do that. The last thing my art should do is turn someone away from drawing.

Big Smile If you'll pardon my saying...but that's one handsome 'buffalo shot'. LOL! Great work.

Hehehehe...thanks. I get a lot of feedback about that head shot (no pun intended) everytime I show it to someone.
