Arkillian Dragon Soul

Artists

Artist's Comments

I got bored at Aramgeddon waiting between signings that I thought I might do a drawing of Bryan Dragon's soul since it 's the most concrete of all the Dragon's souls, and probably the coolest. Desmond's one is the 2nd coolest. Alex's is surprisingly boring for the main character O.o

So yeah, Bryan's soul

It's not too hard to figure it out I guess- he's a grey/blue colour cause he is an air elemental, and he wears a sky blue crown cause of his royal blood. I had to change his beard to this style cause it didn't work with the whole Dragon ears thing...

Next I need to deside if I'm giving Dragon souls genitalia [emoticon] This is to whether fullbody shots of them are: Sensored by wings/ oddly positioned/ M rated/ wearing clothes.

Problem is, there are Dragons that DON'T have wings... Like Garry Dragon- the Slayer's game Dragon. He kind of... doesn't fly.

Media- 9B pencils (I didn't bring any others [emoticon] ) +  Photoshop/wacom tablet

Thanks ^^ I did it between signings at the convention- and I tell you, it's REALLY hard for me to draw when there is heaps of people around me ^^; That, and I had a blunt pencil on the first day X( Not cool. The colour does bump it out though, so I'm glad ^^

You did it at a convention? Which convention was that? *curious* That makes it even cooler! [emoticon] Drawing with just a few people around me can disturb me, let alone lots of them.^^; Actually I wouldn't know something was wrong with the lines if you hadn't told me. I'm glad you like the result though. [emoticon]

It's a New Zealand scifi/comic convention- this one was held in Auckland

http://www.pulpexpo.com/

It was super fun ^^ I normally draw a head shot to stop boredom

thumb that was my last convetion pic

They're good for getting attention to our stand, and getting rid of the "I'm behind a stand- what do I do now?" jitters ^^; Heheh... ^^

Yeah- some were mine- my ownes were the ones on the left. The others were my friend Vic's ( www.scarmander.deviantart.com )

She's the boss of BlueScar, also my childhood friend [emoticon] She doesn't make any profit from those posters, but she has no problem having them up which is good ^^ She's a great person ^^ A little dominating (she calls me wench all the time XD ) but her heart is defiently in it ^^

Dude..that character..just litterally pwns my eyeballs to H*** lmao. I sware to gawd that is an awesome character design Arkillian. And a Dragon Soul to boot! That is an awesome Human-like quality combined with a dragon. You know something, his head design reminds me of the Aquatic Zoras from the Legend of Zelda Ocarina game, not a bad thing though!!! The crown circles around him nicely too, a perfect fit. And the beard looks way cool on him, alot better looking than a plain-faced look that most put on their Half human dragon characters. WAY awesome job on this. *Mutters* I come back after so long and find such awesomeness before meh eyes. Just too sweet. PS!! You best be dang sure this is going in my favorites rofl.

XD WAH! I've been waiting for aaaages for someone to give me a comment on something and I get this!! [emoticon] Glad you love it hon [emoticon] The Arkillian Dragon forms are essentially a Human hit with a dragon stick (or vica versa), cause Arkillians are descendants of Dragons, and mixed with a human soul, this is the closest approximation I can make. The crown is cause he's a prince, but it had to be modified slightly to sit on his angular head. He's an air Dragon, so the focus is ment to be mostly on his wings, but its the head that has the detail in this one. I hope to design one for all the Arkillian Dragons in my story. My latest Sketch is my ter Dragon's one. I have a high standard to live up to for Alex, my fire Drago none, cause he's the lead character ^^; LOL!

Well I think you deserve a comment like that on this, it really is an neat thing to see. And you did do an awesome job with the combination of the two. I'd love to see what you'd do with the other elements if this was just an air-type. What makes it even more exciting to me, is the fact that I LOVE Dragons and you know I like creating my own characters involving the elements, so seeing how well you've intertwined them into your own story and characters is just..well...AWESOME! Lol. Keep 'em coming =]

It's not too hard- it's all about showing the essence and feel of an element, andpersonifying it into an object. The challenge is making it look right. For example- in this one, the biggest feature is his wings. Very powerful, so he can fly FAST They would be alot larger than any other dragon. His crown is the next, cause he's of royal blood. The rest of it is aerodynamics. His head looks like it would be more aerodynamic in flight. Edwards was all about grace, and incorperating fish into it. His Drakobitus hair comes through powerfully, cause it is a strong aspect of him. Fire associated with red, so Alex's soul would be red. He'd be on fire too, cause Alex's soul makes him imune to fire damage as well as he deals out. He'd be a dragon immersed in flames. Not sure what else. He'd be chaotic looking too. Um... I'll stop drivelling..

Nah, you're not drivelling ^_^ Your just highly enthusiastic with your characters [emoticon] *If you weren't, then there'd be something wrong XD* But I like how much thought has gone into the design, and it makes sense too, larger wings to better support the weight of the creature/person for flight, as well as the aerodynamic head. Creating something of fantasy is nice, but it's even nicer when you apply real-world physiology to the subject and make it seem almost as real as when you see them moving around in your mind and can express that as much as possible so other people who view it get that idea..but hey..that's pretty much what any artist aims to achieve right?..Ahhh...drawing..such fun lol.

Yeah- pretty much. Art is only limited to how the veiwer feels about the picture. if it doesn't look possible, then it will be unbelievable. It helps to think of add ons like drawing clothing- attach it to bare skin. It's also the mechanics though which is the tricky part- Knowing how muscles go and bones move. ^^
