This is was my first acrylic piece! I had a lot of fun doing him. I love the Cheshire Cat from Alice and Wonderland but always thought he should be another color! The original is a 18x24 Acrylic canvas board

It looks amazing, you did a great job and acrylic is always a pain to work with and I think you pulled it off. Well done.

Thank you so much. Coming from oils I started with acrylics and went what..the..hell.. I got the hang of it eventually though and do acrylics from time to time.

        Same here,
Oil has a smoother texture, is why I like it.
        Eeep! Bounce

I agree though there are some artists that can make it look like oil..I am just not one of them, yet. I have found that switching back and forth makes me impatient with waiting for the oils to dry.

Oh god, tell me about it!
            I hate the waiting period!
            It's like Shoot me now.

Especially with deadlines..and I don't use that chemical smelly dry it faster stuff. I have animals and don't want them to breathe it in and I want the paint to do its own thing in its own time but some times it totally drives me nuts.

I'm the same, although I don't have any pets that walk around the house hold. (I have mah pet fishie, Purple Haze, I've drawn a picture of him here on DA). Paint is just one of those things for me, either I have the patience and it'll turn out amazing or you'll end up with some realli, realli ugly something. Lmao.

Hehehe cool fish name. I have Frodo, Sam and Gollem though I did have one named lil swim but it died. I am getting impatient with the one I am currently working on so I may have to leave it for a while and work on something else. You are either in the zone or not and I am not feelin it Wink

Like one of mah sailor moon pictures that I started like how many months ago. (I only paint SM pictures at the moment) Don't remind me to pull out the paint brushes and the water bowl... god.

You know you want to...I love Sailor Moon! I really need to do some humaniod work but rarely have the time. My creatures keep me busy!

I need some time to do something...
I haven't drawn anything worth while in a long time... And my Sailor Moon picture does need to be put out of it's misery...
Long weekend, maybe that would be a good time...
                        • Nov 16, 2006, 12:48:38 PM UTC
Sounds like a plan. I look forward to seeing it.

You make it sound like I'm going to get it finished and scanned within' a few days...
(More like 2 years later) Lmao.
                            • Nov 17, 2006, 6:23:28 PM UTC
LOL! I am sure I will be around then too Wink
                              • Nov 19, 2006, 8:42:53 AM UTC
Hopefully I won't rip it up and throw it away before then...
We'll the long weekend is here and I've left it alone and worked on my first realism picture of myself...
Pencil crayons cuz I realli don't have the patience for paint. Tongue
                                • Nov 19, 2006, 12:51:10 PM UTC
Well,I wouldn't throw it away. I have managed to salvage things I thought beyond repair months later.
                                  • Nov 20, 2006, 8:42:39 AM UTC
                                    Wow,
I have never been able to do that...
Cuz usually the work I've done like 2 weeks before I consider so craptactular. Lmao.
                                    • Nov 20, 2006, 9:00:47 AM UTC
I would set it aside for a few months and see how you feel about it. Time and a new project may change your perspective on it.
                                      • Nov 21, 2006, 1:46:21 PM UTC
                                        Lmao, you think?
                                        Maybe I should try that.
(Wishes she didn't burn half of her art binder)

What do you have to loose? You can always throw it away later but once it is in the trash it is history.

                                            Tru say...
I wish I had the time to do some drawing...
But to be honest, I haven't any ideas...
And when I start something, I have to finish it ASAP... I don't know why.

The faster you work on something the faster you can burn out on it. Have you ever asked yourself why you have to finish ASAP?

                                                No actually,
                                                Just because...
It's kinda a thing with me...
It'll be at the back of my mind forever and ever untill I get it done.
Pieces that get realli bad I take the class with me and work on it while I should be listenin' to my teacher... great fun until they catch me... not always a good thing.
