My own version of Death.^^ Her dress is also a pool of blood and she kinda looks like an old woman.

Wow- you jump from strength to strength with your art- this one is incredible. You could seriously sell this as a print  She looks old cause you don't have all the shadows on her face to even out the ones under her cheeks- normally, i'd expect just the outside of the cheek bone to shadow, but this is all the way down, making her look gaunt. If you give her shadows above her eyes, under her lips, and along her jaw line, it'll even it out more [emoticon]

Thanks very much Arkillian! [emoticon] That's a big compliment.^^ I'd love to sell this as a print but I think I need to clean up the colors a bit, it's a little messy, I've only just noticed. Yeah, I guess adding more shadows on her face would strengthen the effect. [emoticon]

More cultures view death as a woman so I like that.
I very much like the dress, but I think the face is kinda calm and like you said, "old woman-ish".
Everything else is great.
Good job.

Thanks for the comment!^_^ Speaking of cultures, in the Russian culture (I was born there) death is portrayed as an old woman, but that's not why I drew Death as a woman. Somehow I feel it's a role better suited for a woman as bad as it sounds. You said she looks kinda calm, I actually wanted that, and as for her looking old, I wanted her to look old and young at the same time because death has no age... Anyway it's done now.

Women are cruel.
I know this because I partically beat up my boyfriend on a regular basis.
Still good!
(I'm brown, we believe the god of death is a chick too)

I love the colours you've managed with this one. That red is very eye-catchingly deep.

I quite like the paleness of her face actually - I even like the old-womanish aspect (perhaps that IS why I like the pale face). The extreme contrasts make her appear far more otherwordly to me, and that fits (in my opinion) the idea of Death better than a young and beautiful woman would.

Gorgeous work, Maria!

Thanks very much hun. I appreciate it. [emoticon] I love that red the most, especially in the BG.I used a render effect in Photoshop, it can be really cool to play with.XD I agree with what you said about her, I wasn't really thinking about it when I drew her.^^ I wonder why is death depicted so much as a young woman...

I don't know. I think I prefer to see Death as old to middle aged, though. Your depiction pretty much hits the spot. [emoticon]

She could be a kind of banshee, maybe, with that ghostly appearance. Very good atmosphere, and a bit mysterious too.

I wanted her to be banshee-like, that's why I made her eyes red. [emoticon] I'm glad I managed to convey that kind of atmosphere. [emoticon] Thanks for the fave!^^

Thanks Jill! [emoticon] Meloves red and blood spatter, when it looks artistic [emoticon] I'm pretty proud of how this turned out, except it's a little messy. But that's fixable, if I can make myself do it. lol. The reds were the first thing I've done on the pic, after this it pretty much drew itself [emoticon] Thanks again^_^
