Found my sketchbook while installing something, then found a permanent marker on my desk and decided to make a go of it. Came out rather nicer than I expected, although the hand still looks a bit funny.
Very nice forshortening *applauds*. I think the hand looks fine, but if you still think it looks funny, try dotting in a little more detail on the palm. When you bend your hand like that, the head and heart lines (those two, kind of bold lines under the fingers) get even deeper, and your person's hand seems to...lack them. From the angle the hand's at, you'll probably only see a bit of a line between the ring and middle fingers, but it might make a difference.
Also, is she holding something? Because if not, she's got an extra finger.
Yes, she's holding a pastel. Originally I had her writing on glass in front of her, but I wasn't sure how to do that with permanent marker so I scrapped it.
Ah! I see now. ^^ That's an interesting idea. Well, maybe adding a little definition to the pastel wouldn't hurt. Like shading it in, to show it's a different color, or giving it a label... xD
