First of all, this simply started out as a doodle, but became a much bigger pain in the rear [emoticon] As you can see, this is why I never draw backgrounds: because they suck, I'm too lazy to spend the effort to learn how to draw/color them properly, and when I do draw them, they take forever to make look halfway decent! But since this is an original character and the setting is supposed to go with the story, I had to draw everything myself, which obviously leaves much to be desired.
Ok, now that I've gotten my disclaimer out of the way....

This is an oc from the main manga I'm working on; it's an idea I've had in my head since age seven, and even though people tell me he looks too much like Link, he's looked like this in my head before I even knew what Legend of Zelda was! (And those were dark days indeed, lol!) His name's Vierlan, and he's the male lead in the story. The castle behind him, which is really the only thing I like about the background, is fortress Lockharte, where he serves as chief bodyguard and favored knight of the king and queen. 'Tis a long and complicated story, but a pic like this needs some kind of explaination ^_^

Yea it looks like it was a pain lol! I have this one that I am working on and planning to post it when I get back to Illinois, but I have to work on it when I am happy, because thats how I started it and my little sister is keeping me away from it...so I will have to see (little sisters are a pain in the ass) [emoticon]

Ooh, Megan, this is wonderful. I cannot wait to see your manga. It is going to be wonderful. He looks really cute. I really love the fact that you attempted and successfully pulled off this background. Tis wonderful. ^_^

I really like yur style, the way you draw your caracter, they really do have a thing to them, Vierlan is very cute too, his cloths are very cool too. And for the background, its not that bad,the only i'd suggest is maybe checking up the proportions and perspective, the rest is A+

Thank you! Yeah, this started out as a doodle where I was designing an outfit for him, and then I decided it really needed a background.. At that point, I realized my paper was too small and was trying to cram everything in there to make it fit! Hence, the ill-proportionate look [emoticon] This is why I really have to work on my backgrounds!! lol

lol, for me, when i start a drawing as a doodle, it always ends up nice and dunno why! And i hate doing background, i always forget that detail and start right away on the main subject, when i finish im like...ah damn forgot the background again, and im too lazy to do it, not to mention it's sometime hard to do a background once the main subject is drawn. [emoticon] But anywho, please do draw more of Vierlan i think he likes me! [emoticon]

Oh. My...this is the most beautiful pain in the rear I've ever seen( ha ha [emoticon] )!! Where to start? Okay, I love how you drew the castle in the background. The way you made all of the stones protruding out of it with the ones in the shadows tapering off is just great. I love the way you drew your character, Vierlan. The scale armor on his clothes is awesome, I like the way you posed him slightly leaning with his hand on his hip, and I like the expression on his face. I know what you mean about running out of room, I usually draw on 8x11 computer paper and I run out of room SOOO often..and I'm like damn, no room. I need to learn how to go to the store and get BIGGER sheets of paper...but the computer paper is always there ready for me to draw on it...I'm so lazy ha ha. Anyway, GREAT job Stealth Nerd...I can't wait to see your manga! [emoticon]

I think you did a fabulous job with this picture Stealth Nerd. The elf, Vierlan, and all! The castle, the hills, the trees all look great. Man I love elves *glomp*

No matter what you think about your own background I think you did a wonderful job. I very much like the character and the castle. I also admire the details you put into the brickwork of the castle. Very well done.

By the way.....weren't you blonde? Anyways red's a good color.

I don't think he looks like Link at ALL. I mean, his eyes and hair are TOTALLY different, his ears are about twice as long as Link's, and his face isn't quite as boyish. It's a completely different style. MAYBE if you slapped a green tunic and hat on him, there would be similarities; still, it would be kind of weird, and it still wouldn't look like Link. So don't worry. [emoticon]
