Artist's Comments

This is an older piece of mine, done for Lehn, featuring her character Kliestosse in both male and female form in the role of Ma'at.  And good old Anubis is just being himself.

Alright! So, what's going on here is the judgement of the deceased. In the tradtional version, Anubis weighs the heart of the dead against the Feather of Truth, which is held by Ma'at. The female Kliestosse is gressed as Ma'at in this version, and the male, an alteration thereof.
That thing is holding is, yes, a heart, not a strangely coloured lump.

Anyway, if the heart -- which the Egyptians believed to be the seat of thought and will (Not the brain) was heavy with sin, the soul was eaten by the Devourer of Condemned Dead, which looks like an angry dog. (I can't draw dogs, so it's not here. )

Unfortunately I couldn't find the words "Sins" and "Truth" in Egyptian, so the Heiroglyphs say "Dues" (By the male) and "Repaid" by the female.

Normally I wouldn't post something this old, but people seem to like it, and i still don't mind it, so...

Anubis looks both enigmatic and sultry in this image. The jackal-face is mysterious, almost sinister. I kinda like it.

Well, already this is awesome because of Anubis.
The simplicity and elegance of this is perfect symbolism. [emoticon]
