I wish I could see her face too.. But I won't be there. [emoticon] I'll be working in the kitchen at the airport. [emoticon] Still, mom will relay everything she says, I'm sure. I'm quite excited for whenever my mommy gets home tonight, actually.

Thanks for always being here for me, my love. I'm glad I have you. [emoticon] (and Mal and Lloyd, of course. They are wunnerful to me too, and I love them)

Apparently she cried a little bit (out of happiness) and told my mother that it was deifintely one of the best presents she could have gotten. And then mom got a big hug, and the recipient called her husband and made him come up to see it, and then she took the picture everywhere to show it to people around the office... So I think it was well-appreciated. One down, three to go.

Well, my mother commissioned it as a gift for a friend. She's thrilled enough that she doesn't want to give it away, if that counts. [emoticon] I'm glad you think so very highly of the drawing, luv! [emoticon]

MECHANICAL PENCIL!! WHAT!? [emoticon] Not even MY mechanical pencil shading is so thoroughly smoothed and even [emoticon] How the heck? uhhhh lol, you must teach me the art of your mech.pencil skills oh wise one, yup yup lol. I see the tree branch that had been looming over her, has been moved further up, I think it looks more natural that way too. The ledge of which the quiver of arrows is sitting upon is done real nicely, as well as the detail on the quiver itself. Just so much detail in this, and it really all looks so good [emoticon] I could go on and on, but I'm not gonna hold your eyes here with that lol. So, I say EXCELLENT JOB! and gl on your next piece, I'm sure it's gonna be as good as this one ^^

Not much to teach, really. The only way I know of to show how I do things is the step-by-step Works in Progress that I've been posting. I tend to shade according to which texture I want, how smooth it has to be. The trees, for example, I would only draw using vertical lines. Her shin was shaded by very gently making tiny little spirals... It's just all dependent on what effect one wants to achieve.

And thanks so much for your vote of confidence! I hope I live up to the expectations. [emoticon]

Thanks for the support. [emoticon]
Unfortunally I have little time to draw because my studies are time consuming, and it doesn't have anything to do with art. I still have a lot to learn. You're lucky, at least you can develop in that area. I mostly teach myself right now.

*grin* I've been teaching myself, too. My particular schooling taught me mostly how to do abstract and political art - not at all what I really WANTED to learn. (I'm a little teeny bit bitter about that. [emoticon] ) Now I work a full time job, get home from that, and work more. My brain is starting to die again... [emoticon] Still - I have a goal that I'm determined to at least make a valid effort to reach. You must, too, with your studies. I think mainly it's that we each follow our own path to achieve that dream...

Personally I like it when somebody has more then one style, if you know what I mean. Some artists stick too much with one topic or style, which makes their work sometimes a bit 'static' and predictable. I think that the best artists have many ways of making their artworks, and still manage to have their own style.
So go on and keep surprising me (or sould I say 'us' [emoticon] ^^

Most artists I know don't have one 'style' so to speak.. but they do have a distinctly recognisable way of drawing. At least, they do if they want to be an individual artist... So I guess what I'm striving for ais a niche in which I am comfortable, that I might be able to have some kind of personal touch that sets me apart from most, if not all, of the talent around me. [emoticon] One of the greats? I don't know if I have the motivation. It's taking me forever to get a suitable portfolio made up... And I need to start actually making money so I can go to conventions and such just to get myself established perhaps as an illustrator. *sigh* But there's always the dream.

You are so good to me. Reading your comments always makes me smile, my friend.

Thank you!

Yes, my medium of choice is the mechanical pencil. Cheap, easy to use, and can get into the details. Plus, I can get multiple pencils with different lead softness if I want to.

Thanks for the comment!

I love mechanical pencil, but I know it takes a lot of work and dedication, especially for something as detailed as this.
