Now before anyone gets the wrong idea...>.>
I have been studying World War 2 for nearly 2 weeks. I happen to find it very interesting. I also plan on visiting the holocaust museum in St. Petersburg. Ive read a novel, a history book and am currently watching "The Pianist". Very graphic and disturbing movie but I like it because its the turth. Not some fictional made up world. I guess its affected me in some way for me to make this.
I spent a good 2 hrs on this pic.
As I learn more on this subject I began to wonder...Did the Nazis ever feel shame for their sinful acts?

lost_kitsuneTotal Posts: 350May 5, 2006 6:39 pmi think it's very well done, the cap is a little 2 dimensional looking and the nose and eyes are a little close, but other then that i like it ^_^. it did scare me at first glance till i read it ^_^ that i must admit. and as for the Nazis, there were some cases of a few turning around and secretly trying to save the imprisoned. and i'm sure there were far more who realized just what they were doing and undoubtedly went insane, but considering the German politics wouldn't much want to document that and Americans were dead set on the thought of all Nazis as soulless murderers, i'm sure not many were recognized if not already killed. but yes, just as troops to our own country will realize that killing is killing no matter what cause you think it's for i'm sure so did men that fought under the Nazi flag. I hope I was helpful |

emmet849Total Posts: 127May 7, 2006 6:14 pmI think posting this picture was very brave of you. I am also interested in WWII and have done a bit of research. To understand Nazi thinking, I would suggest a book called The Trial of Ikeman. I can't remember the author, but it was written by a Jewish Holocaust survivor who was sent as a reporter to cover the trial. it is amazingly objective. There was also a study done some time after the war inwhich scientists took people into a room that had a button and told them to push the button and when they did it would deliver an electric shock to someone in another room. (of course no one actually recieved a shock, the point was to see if people would actually inflict harm on another person simply because they were told to by and authority figure i.e. a guy in a white lab coat). The amounts of electricity were gradually "increased" or at least the participants were told they were. The person "recieving" the shocks would begin to shout louder and louder and say things like "My heart! I have a heart condiditon! OMG that hurts! Please stop! I can't take this! etc" The person pushing the button could hear all of this. If the button-pusher looked up at the scientist or asked if they should keep going the scientist would tell them to keep pushing the button. The button-pushers were also told that they could quit at any time and would still recieve their pay. so what they were doing was strictly voluntary. Eventually there would be silence from the person "recieving" the shocks. The participants recieved a small pay for their participation. The study showed the people will hurt others simply because they are told to by someone they percieve to be in power. --- When all soldiers lay their weapons down, Or when all kings and the queens relinquish their crown, Or when the only true Messiah rescues us from ourselves, It's easy to imagine, There will be sorrow no more "Sorrow" by Bad Religion The Process of Belief |

arkillian (Reply)Total Posts: 3139May 9, 2006 2:43 pmThat is totally wow- but if you think about it, to truely control a country, you have to treat it sort of like a military- it is very clean and efficent. People are less likely to argue, they are organised, and 9 times out of 10, they would do exactly what you say. If you give them not other option than what they are told, then most people wont fight back and will do what they're told. The germans still to this day put their citizens through army training, and you can never be a citizen of germany if you had belonged to another country. It's harsh, but you can't break that kind of society back to what it was before Hilter in a few years. Full Metal Alchemist had a great example- people for years worshiped a false prophet thinking he could create miracles- it was a rich and happy, and content town. Ed came around and showed them the truth. The town ran down and the people rioted cause they were so outraged that they could be deceived so. The false prophet came back and told them it was all a lie, and it all went back to normal. People don't care if its right or wrong- if it doesn't hurt them, it's ok. Survival of the fittest. To care for another is a special upbringing, and I'd like to think Germany is slowly starting to get that back again --- |

arkillian (Reply)Total Posts: 3139May 9, 2006 6:13 pm*blushes* You need to think about it though- it wasn't slavery. People were doing it on their own free will. He must've been doing something right. That's why there is still alot of respect for what he did for Germany, but not his beliefs. This is why good and evil are never black and white clean cut. --- |

CindoraTotal Posts: 31May 10, 2006 7:30 amit´s a great picture, the WW2 is an interesting topic. i´m german and i feel shame when i think of things which happens. but in school i learn lots of things about the time. i think lot´s of people thought they do the right and if they don´t think so the governmant carried them of thinking doing the right. ( i hope you understand what i mean ._. ) lot´s of people had fear. but special when i´m thinking about killing the jews i become hate for the people who do that and i think about the hole world i think of the past when the indians were killed or the blacks who must work for the whites i hope for the future it will never come a terrible time like in the past. |
