I was suppose to post this for minimaid last week but I never got the chance. Well here's what I have so far. I'm currently working on the large pillar in the background and also the stairs.

Dennis (Reply)Total Posts: 984Jun 2, 2006 11:05 pmHi! Thank you for the lovely comment. In answer to your query, yes I have been doing commisions for the past year and a half now. --- |

arkillian (Reply)Total Posts: 3075Jun 2, 2006 11:17 pm... I ment what do you charge? --- |
|
|
Dennis (Reply)Total Posts: 984Jun 3, 2006 11:48 amI charge on a case by case basis when it comes to private commisions depending on how much detail and how complicated the piece is and also on the deadline. Otherwise the gaming companies I usuall draw for pay anywhere from 150 to $550 dollars for a piece. --- |

arkillian (Reply)Total Posts: 3075Jun 4, 2006 4:40 amWow- American currency I assume? I'd love to get a simple $20 for a commission at the moment ^^; I'd make me feel special :3 Good on you though --- |

Dennis (Reply)Total Posts: 984Jun 4, 2006 10:18 pmBelieve me it came as a shock to me when I got my first offer amount on a commision from a gaming company. I still feel somewhat taken aback when I get a commsion. --- |

Dennis (Reply)Total Posts: 984Jun 5, 2006 9:27 pmYou my friend hit it right on the nose on that one. I had one client actualy ask me to do a full blown oil painting after I mentioned that I dabbled with oils at one time. --- |
|
|
arkillian (Reply)Total Posts: 3075Jun 5, 2006 10:40 pm*dies* NO FRIGGIN WAY. Oils is NOT something you buy when the person doesn't know how to use them properly yet. They are sooooo difficult to get the colours right!!! Oil anything makes me go nuts. --- |

Dennis (Reply)Total Posts: 984Jun 4, 2006 10:23 pmThanks, I spend anywhere between 80 to 200 hundred hours i'm guessing on a single pic. It all depends on how much detail i'm trying to put on the pic. --- |

MinimaidTotal Posts: 1927Jun 3, 2006 8:28 amHoly geez, luv! That design on the pillar is perfect! I'm going to have some time recreating the interior architecture for these guys after this is done. --- |

Dennis (Reply)Total Posts: 984Jun 4, 2006 10:27 pmThanks Robin, I was realy trying to put some intricacy and ornateness in the pic but I had to do this without making myself feel like I was drawing more of the background than the figure. I also needed something with a bit of repatitive design that looked like it wasn't repetative. Did that make any sense? --- |

EvilBunnySlippersTotal Posts: 554Jun 3, 2006 12:04 pmWoah, this is looking really awesome! As always the shading is wonderful, and I really love that weaving pattern of lines in the background. Its so intricate, I would have gone crazy doing that...it looks really neat. I can't wait to see this finished, great job --- The two most common elements in the universe are hydrogen and stupidity. -EBS |

Dennis (Reply)Total Posts: 984Jun 4, 2006 10:35 pmThank you for the compliment on my shading. That pattern on the background pillar realy took its toll on me and I think it'll be awhile before I do something like that again. --- |

Dennis (Reply)Total Posts: 984Jun 5, 2006 9:22 pmOh rest assured that I never do it all at once. That I think would drive me to stop drawing altogether but I do sometimes go at it for about 14 to 20 hours sometimes. --- |
