I was inspired to do this by Buck Tick's album '13 Kai Wa Gekkou'. It's actually an illustration for one of the songs. Not sure what the lyrics mean but that's what i see when I hear it.
Good music always gives me inspiration.XD
This is not finished yet, I'm still working on some details. I was trying to draw her with correct proportions but seems like it's still distorted in places. What bothers me more is her skirt which looks flat and the lights and shadows. Not sure I like the current lighting, maybe I should keep the curtain dark.
I'd appreciate some pointers on how to fix this, and I mean a real roast.

MinimaidTotal Posts: 1930Oct 24, 2006 7:42 pmI love how this is coming along - perhaps sime highlights and creaseas where the skirt joins with the top of the dress would help do make it more 3D. --- |

Sayonara Ame (Reply)Total Posts: 1617Oct 27, 2006 12:20 pmThank you hun. Yes, I see now that it will look alot better if I do some shadows and creases on the skirt. I'm glad you like it so far. ---

Oct 25, 2006 3:56 amA few thoughts of crit- Minimaid has said alot of it- creases in the skirt with corrosponding lighting... I don't think you need to darken it more- I like the overall lighting effect- it's highlighting. What kind of light is it though? This is important. Google stage lighting effects- you'll find that they use bright coloured lights to give the person on stage colour and stuff- this will effect your colour, and even everything out. I suggest using a 25% or 50% black to shade the darkest areas rather than such a light shade- don't be affraid of it cause it's harsh in comparision. Stage lighting makes thingsbright, but it always has contrasts- it'll be over bearing for her too. --- |

Sayonara Ame (Reply)Total Posts: 1617Oct 26, 2006 2:19 amI understand...Well, I first wanted to make it a directional light, so that it would fall on top of her, but I don't want it to be very bright. As for that thing hanging next to her, it's not the light source. I just want to put some decoration there later. I've done as you said and looked for some pictures in Google but I still haven't found what I needed, I will though. Your visual crit is very helpful, I now see what Minimaid meant. She does look alot better even now. ---

KekouraTotal Posts: 350Oct 30, 2006 6:48 pmThis is a be-a-utaful work, wow! And i agree with Arkillian- focus on the lighting, it a rabble of harsh colors and, for me, not convincing enough. Try using more of the orage and light blue to make the skirt more defind and darker shaded corners. Also focus on the corset thry to give it a lighter glare on the bottom half of the belly. --- You have just revieved the Aumish computer virus. Kekoura (Reply)Total Posts: 350Oct 31, 2006 11:13 pmWelcome! And don't change the colors just even-out the amount of orange tones in the picture. I love the chilling efect the curtin has- not in a bad way more like not being able to turn away from it. So dont mess with the curtin too much, it pulls you in to the pic! --- You have just revieved the Aumish computer virus. Now since the aumish don't have computers, it relys on the trust system. drewamooTotal Posts: 56Dec 4, 2006 1:51 amI really really love this! When I first saw her I did not think of a puppet. Even though she is the focal point and it is clear that she is being manipulated in some way, my wondering eyes caught the ball joints. ; ; I love dolls! Either way, this is really beautiful! |
