In failing something beter to write that wasn't on the WIP I did for this- I honour this pic with a cut and paste ^^
Well- I finally got to see MI:3 This weekend on DVD- severly impressed, expecially after hearing the crap reveiws on it O.o I thought it was great- tons of double crossing etc...
To make it worse, my Sycraft campain has JUST restarted, and I'm totally in an espionage mood ^^
So, here I am, wanting to get a pencil only drawing out cause I looooove my pencil ^^
Anyways- Final version now- Kekoura was kind enough to nit pick my picture- and came up with a few things that I missed in the WIP- Thanks hon!!
. There is still a few issues on minor things like his head tilt isn't the same but... I got over it ^^ It wasn't an exersise of photo perfecting, but to get the real human head back into my mind's eye, and it really has helped alot. I don't feel so artistically confsed now ^^ Wasn't sure what to do as a background- I think I'll leave it white. IT'll confuse it if I did anything I think
So yes- enjoy Ethan Hunt goodness
(BTW- When I say copy, it's NOT traced- if it were, then there wouldn't be mistakes ^^; )

arkillian (Reply)Total Posts: 2930Nov 29, 2006 11:19 amSorry hon- I've already been through all of this- Tom has a very flat cheek, and the origanal lighting of this picture made shading in that area very unnoticable- expecially after the contrasting I did to counter the scanner munching up my blacks and whites. That and his lighting is very sideways... but they gave him a bunch of other weird lighting effects to not blacken him out http://image.blog.livedoor.jp/huestyle/imgs/d/c/dc25d87f.jpg That's a link to a high res version of the pic. As you'll see- I've actully given him some stuff he doesn't have in the origanal (simply cause it looked beter that way. Sorry to sound negative hon- I always like some critique. There may be a few more shadows I can put in, but I've already sealed this picture- there's not alot more I could do to it --- |

arkillian (Reply)Total Posts: 2930Nov 30, 2006 3:54 amYeah- the picture is VERY grainy. A great effect for a poster cause it's like someone was stalking him and took a photo of him in action- not too cool for me trying to draw from it cause I had to guess alot of details --- |

arkillian (Reply)Total Posts: 2930Apr 10, 2007 5:56 pmNaugh- as much of an idiotic religion Scientology is, I like the character, so I'm not going to mock Tom for it. War Squirrel (Reply)Total Posts: 298Apr 10, 2007 9:53 pmI agree with you. He is a good actor. I hate scientology, though. Me and a buddy are making an RPG in visual basic about scientology. Funny stuff, but Tom can really pull off an action movie. War Squirrel (Reply)Total Posts: 298Apr 10, 2007 10:11 pmThat's true. Casino Royale was excellent, except for the whole ball-busting torture scene...being a guy, that's some sick shit to have to go through. There's no way the fans will let them replace Tom in the next film. To have a series of 3 movies, then just suddenly change characters, just won't work. It worked for Bond 'cuz there was 20+ of those moviez. Don't know if it'll work here. --- The greatest story ever written. FORMERLY HALO MODDER (USER WAS BANNED FOR THIS POST)

arkillian (Reply)Total Posts: 2930Apr 11, 2007 3:24 pmNot really- it was more the point that I didn't have the bits and still found it twitchy. It's pretty obvious that I'm female after talking to me >.> I never saw BR as a guy, but that's mostly cause I found out about PD ages ago by ZMT, and she's in that as the "producer" ( LOL! ) Fablespinner was the one that confused me for a while. She acts blokey. It's obvious now though cause she has a beautiful style of art. Guys don't draw like that --- |
|
|
War Squirrel (Reply)Total Posts: 298Apr 11, 2007 3:32 pmPersonally, I've never seen ZMT... But Fablespinner also confused me originally until I had a conversation with her, similar to the one we've been having. I had known your gender for a while, but shortly after you originally set the Tom Cruise as your avatar/pic thingy I was still under the impression you were male. arkillian (Reply)Total Posts: 2930Apr 11, 2007 3:35 pm^^; That's my fault I'm sorry. I've had a thing against openly displaying that I'm a female cause I use to be Dragon girl on mIRC and got hit on all the time, so now I try for more of a masculine tone. People tend to respect me more with a male avatar. Besides, I draw mostly men, so it suits me --- |
|
|
War Squirrel (Reply)Total Posts: 298Apr 11, 2007 5:36 pmOh, really? That's pretty bad... Besides, most of the guys on mIRC are 30-something in a basement looking for FTP rooms. I've never been able to draw men. If you look through my gallery, nearly every character is female... That's sumthin I've been meaning to practice at. --- The greatest story ever written. e-quahloTotal Posts: 34Jul 27, 2007 7:15 pmThis is ama-zazing!!! Do you do some of your shading by cross hatching? I'm only wondering, because I like to try new things. I've only just now started to draw with different leaded pencils myself. This is just...screaming gorgeous! I like Tom too, no matter what anyone else says, he's a very sexy man. You did a very great job. I'm glad you don't trace, too, I don't either. How do you go about getting your pieces looking so good to start out with, do you eyeball it, or do you use gridding? arkillian (Reply)Total Posts: 2930Jul 27, 2007 9:12 pmPencil work? I try to do it as often as I can, but I'm busy, and its easy to get cause up onthe quick and easy linearts ^^; I MUCH prefure pencils to digetal colouring though. I just don't as much time to do it now days as I use to. I know I'll be definetly busy next month on getting another 10 pages out of "Final Sunset" (my comic) for the next comic convention. Wil be a challenge, but I think I've cut enough out of my social life to do it ^^ Tell me though- is griding difficult? I look at it and go "It looks clumsey" and it never really appealed.how do you find it? --- |
|
|
e-quahlo (Reply)Total Posts: 34Jul 29, 2007 1:49 pmNo... griding isn't hard or clumsy. It's making extra light marks (with a ruler) on your reference and on your art paper so that you can break the drawing down into smaller parts to get the proportions and angles more correct in your drawing. I begin with griding to get the outline, and then erase it off completely (it's so light you can barely see it anyway) and then go from there. It's more helpful to me than anything else. --- This is not where or how it ends. |

arkillian (Reply)Total Posts: 2930Jul 29, 2007 3:46 pmXD Maybe I'm just lazy. The most critical I do is directly comparing but I never trace- that loses the feel of the pic and I don't always WANT to follow the original completly --- |

MI:2 was pretty lame in comparison. MI:1 was great for the breaking espionage scenes (cue- Tom dropping down on the rope from the ceiling), and MI:3 was very hostage, personal type movie with some mind games which was an awesome angle. MI:2 Was glorified, but not as good. I own all 3 in any case --- |
