Artist's Comments

This is my very very late birthday gift for my friend *CutieAnimeBaby*.
I'm so sorry for the lateness hun. [emoticon] I was trying to make it look the best it could.^^

I've called this Dive to Blue, after the L'arc En Ciel song, it's really great and I think it fits the mood. [emoticon] The lyrics are taken from a translation site.

I wanted to try doing some vector drawing. Well, it's not exactly that since I've done it mostly in Photoshop. I didn't want to just trace the original picture. The background was alot of fun, I've got to play with some nice PS effects. [emoticon]

I hope you like this Amanda, and all of you as well. [emoticon]

P.S.- If anyone knows where to find any vector drawing tutorials I'd be very grateful. [emoticon]

Fullview please!!

Did you do this in Flash? It looks amazing. Really, really beautiful.

As for vector tutorials, you can go to dA. But those, I believe, are generally for photoshop.

Thanks alot Reina! [emoticon] No, I drew it in Freehand MX but added most of the colors in PS because I didn't like how it looked at first. Drawing in Freehand takes alot of time.>< Thanks for the advice, it doesn't really matter to me if it's for Photoshop or not, I just wanna learn to do it. [emoticon]

Freehand... I think I have that... But I tend to draw in Flash more. I know I did a project in my art class last year in Freehand, and I remember it being downright painful, lol. So I feel your pain. ^^

I did one too and it took alot of time, but never drew a person seriously so I didn't have much patience with this one. It's really easier to do in Flash.*nods*

I wanted to draw a dancing girl but couldn'd draw anything for the life of me, so I had to use a reference. I'm really happy how dynamic this came out [emoticon] The shading was a bit of work, especially the pants so I'm glad you like it. [emoticon] Thanks alot!

Thanks again. I used the picture for the contours, only changed them a bit.^^ As for the pants I think they could've been better. The shading on the left leg still looks kinda cement-like to me.

This looks awesome, I like how the background and the dancing girl fit together and how the lyrics of the song follow her movement. Great work with the overall composition.

If I stumble across any vector drawing tutorial, I’ll let you know.

Thank you hun. [emoticon] It's good to hear from you, haven't seen you around much. How you've been?

Glad you like the background, it was the fun part.^_^ I spent most of the time on arranging the lyrics, well into the night-till about 2 am, haha. Glad it all turned out well. [emoticon] And I appreciate it if you do. [emoticon]

I’ve been busy lately with my job and some other thingies and I feel a little bit stressed at the moment. I hope I have more time for my artwork next year.

But I have taken that figure drawing class again and it was a lot of fun [emoticon] . It’s interesting to draw in a group and see how people approach the same task in different ways, it is very inspiring.

And you worked till 2am? Sounds familiar to me, sometimes you just can’t stop [emoticon] .

Hehe, tell me about it. I sometimes don't know where to stop before I ruin the picture. [emoticon]
