EDIT 3 secs after uploading: I forgot his precious star! D:

MUAH!

Eimin-chan over on Deviantart drew me a gift a few days ago, a fan art of my Melvin. (Can be seen here: eimin-chan.deviantart.com/art/Melvin-74830195 )
I loved it. [emoticon]
So I felt that I had to give her something in return. XD!

So, uuh, this is Melvin, again, and he's just gotten out of the shower..? In.. a.. dark room..? XDD; No idea what he's doing, really. D: I just wanted to do something with the color blue.

He's being dorky with his lips, trying to look all smexay and failing miserably. 8D HE'S MADE OF EPIC FAIL. <- Sato's new favorite phrase.

Sure, there are some faults here and there, but whatever, I'm pleased anyway. XD

Crit Response Team here....sorry for the wait! [emoticon]

First of all I don't know where you get off saying you can't do cell shading?! This is great!

I'll tell you what I like about this: You chose to add a dark thick outline around the portrait - love it. When I first saw this technique at a anime cone I immediatly liked how it 'popped' the image. The shadows you used on the skin are just fine. Now it's up to you if you want more highlights. Ask yourself what you want to accomplish. Something more stylized? More realistic? Something in between? When you know what you want you may find exactly your color style is. I might reccomend a little dot of your darkest color value (yet, not black) in the deepest part of his ear. Also try this technique...instead of using black lines on the interior of his face try using dark gray or colors matching the character. The lines still show, but are muted. Although that's just me being picky. I'm trying the colored line technique myself with interesting results. ^_^

Was that nice enough? LOL

P.S.

Oooh, thank you very much! Haha, and, yes, that was nice enough. XD!

I'll think about what you've told me and try it out next time I start coloring something.

Thanks again! And I'll go take a look at that link now. [emoticon]
