Wow! That one came out of nowhere and said, "DRAW ME!!" My mind was wandering the other night, and this subject and pose popped up in my head. It practically jumped off my paper when I started drawing it.
The only thing I can't stand about this one is that it's on the wrong paper. I really feel that if I'd had the forethought to switch sketch pads when the concept came to me, it would have turned out better.
Still, I'm pretty darn happy with this one, wrong paper be danged. I could probably do more to it, too. I love how the sky came out. I'm pretty sure he's a bat, but he's unnamed. I'm thinking of Kiro...
He didn't take much to color, but I went ahead and put a little blue in the sky and yellow on his pants. Skintones and eyes are the only other color. If anyone is curious, I do all drawing and shading in graphite, then if I want to color it I'll use a program called "Recolored". It's meant for black and white photos, but it is beautiful for pencil drawings, too.

SliverbaneTotal Posts: 284Mar 5, 2008 6:42 amIt's always wonderful when a your Muse just attacks. I've been caught by the wrong paper dilemma. I fixed that by stashing my favorite drawing paper pads all over my house - just incase. I noticed you placed this in Realism section. While his position, anatomy is very lovely his bat wing is missing the segments or joints (finger bones) that a bat wing requires to function. Just an observation - and I'm a stickler for wings feathered and otherwise. Suspension of Belief I think is key to any fantasy drawing - as in does it make me believe it would work? That would be my only suggestion for future bat wings. And you did do a great sky there....I have trouble with moonlit skies. Very impressive. --- Guano smells like a dirty sock full of old cheese and farts! - Gonard |
