MinimaidTotal Posts: 1896Nov 11, 2007 7:20 amLove the imagery and composition you have going in this piece. His wings seem to be wrapping themselves around him in a very protective manner, and the chain suggests a master-slave relationship. You have done well with your first attempt at greyscale! It is a very difficult form to master, but you are definitely on the right track. The one suggestion I would leave you with is to try, once you get to this stage, making the shadows darker. You could use a softer pencil or just more presuure to achieve this (I suggest a softer pencil though, as it's less likely to wreck your picture, and easier to erase if a mistake is made). --- |

pazazzTotal Posts: 460Nov 11, 2007 3:31 pmI like this piece, it exudes a lot of feeling. The problem I have with it, is that it is too light. In order to be more eye-catching, you need to go the full range of values. This one and all the others suffer from a true lack of really nice dark values. If you don't want to ink it, you can work with a softer pencil or charcoal to give you those nice dark darks. I hope to see more of your work, thanks for sharing it with us. |

Saigith (Reply)Total Posts: 191Nov 11, 2007 3:34 pmHeh, my art teacher said the same thing about me and lacking dark values. I'll try to improve the one I'm currently working before I submit it. And thank you for the tip, and critiqueing. I really appriciate it. --- "One step closer and my sword shall find a new sheath." Lael quote
