WildeKardeTotal Posts: 188May 12, 2008 7:53 amAmazing. I don't see where you come off saying where you need to improve. I can only wish to be that skilled. Not sure which program you are using, but don't forget the Smug, and blur tools, they work great with shadows. And filters are always a great shortcut. --- Procrastinate Later! words to live by. |

arkillian (Reply)Total Posts: 3017May 12, 2008 1:18 pmPhotoshop CS2 with a wacom tablet, but this took AGES and its still very blurred and unrefined. I guess part of it is my frustration cause I hate digital. It's not horrible or anything- just... laboured T.T --- |

WildeKarde (Reply)Total Posts: 188May 12, 2008 9:29 pmOh yeah, It takes a whole lot of time. The beauty thou is working in layers you can try different thing. I have noticed that a lot of professional illustrators will paint in oil or acrylic and then take it to digital. I bet that saves on the time. --- Procrastinate Later! words to live by. |

arkillian (Reply)Total Posts: 3017May 12, 2008 9:50 pmMultimedia makes things nice and fast for me too, but paints are so messy that I sometimes can't be bothered cause of the clean up. I'm not that talented with wet media anyways. I reckon that this will get less annoying as I get better at it, but I don't think I'll ever like it as much as doing the pencil work. I need to develop as an artist though --- |

arkillian (Reply)Total Posts: 3017May 14, 2008 6:19 pmI'm not saying that I don't like it. It turned out well considering really. I don't like digital colouring though. It's very stressful for me. Maybe I'll like a bit more when I get use to it T.T --- |

arkillian (Reply)Total Posts: 3017May 14, 2008 6:18 pmIt's better for me anyways, but I like things I can physically feel. There's just something impersonal about a tablet that I can't describe to someone that doesn't use both regularly. I love pencil passionately. It does look crap scanned though --- |

blackwingedangel (Reply)Total Posts: 204May 15, 2008 12:54 amyeah I often have that problem to, my scanner always eat half the shading. In my opinion that is the best thing about digital art, the quality stays more or less the same. |

karana kaouTotal Posts: 1094May 24, 2008 6:37 pmI do very much like the color scheme you've used for this; the purples and blues highlight the intensity of emotion you're portraying. I think you're doing a magnificent job with it! --- "I am lost. I have gone to look for myself, if I get back, before I return, please tell me to wait." -Unknown |

arkillian (Reply)Total Posts: 3017May 24, 2008 8:10 pmThank you ^^ I'm trying out using non natural colours as well as natural ones. Not sure about them yet, but there's dynamic potential ^^ --- |

MinimaidTotal Posts: 1917Aug 28, 2008 9:12 amBut Ark, it DOES look really good! You're doing an excellent and thorough job of shading this accurately. The colouring you've chosen works very well, especially considering the tears in his eyes (those are tears, there, right? I can't enlarge the picture, so I'm assuming so.) --- |

arkillian (Reply)Total Posts: 3017Aug 28, 2008 3:24 pmYes- those are tears ^^ He's crying out of frustration, but he's a King, so he doesn't want others to see --- |

Minimaid (Reply)Total Posts: 1917Aug 28, 2008 4:39 pmOh, that's weird that your tablet's acting up. Perhaps you should look up finding some new drivers for it? That could fix any jumpiness you might be having. --- |

arkillian (Reply)Total Posts: 3017Aug 29, 2008 9:09 pmTried that- its difficult to find drivers for my tablet which work now >.> Calibration is also something I'll need- haven't found that feature yet... --- |
